Color Controls

Single Color Control

Two Color Control

Line Color Control

In various preference windows, color preferences are denoted by a rectangle filled with the currently selected color. Each color preference is labeled with a title to the left of the color rectangle(s). To change the color preference, click anywhere inside the color rectangle (or Ctrl-Click, which will be discussed below) A titled "color picker" window will appear and the cursor changes to an "eye dropper" on Macintosh or a "pencil" in Windows 95. Move the cursor inside the color picker window. As the tip of the pen or eyedropper passes over a color, that color replaces the original color preference. Complete your selection by clicking the mouse button on the color you want or by closing the color picker window.

If you Ctrl-click in the color control, instead of just clicking, you will get the Native Windows or Macintosh color selector, which will generally give you a greater degree of flexibility over the colors you can choose from.

Color preferences for charting lines, as seen in the Line Color Control above, have a color, line thickness, and line shading preference. Three sample line thickness settings are shown in the currently selected color. Click on the line thickness you want. Three shading samples are similarly shown. Again, click on the shading you want. Solid shading is recommended. When printing charts in black and white, the other shading options may be used to distinguish among the different lines in the chart.
