Accessing The Linn Software Chat Room
Accessing
the Linn Software Chat Room
There are three ways to access the Linn Software, Investor/RT Chat Room.
Option 3 is the most reliable method, but takes some time to set up the
first time.
Option
1 (Investor/RT):
You can now access the Investor/RT chat
room (or any other IRC chat room) directly from within the Investor/RT
software. It's very simple, just click on the "Chat Room"
icon in the main toolbar of Investor/RT and Connect. You can use
this feature of the software with or without registering
Investor/RT. Just download,
install, and connect.
Option
2 (Java Chat Applet):
You may access the chat room directly from the web through
a Java-enabled chat room. To access the Java
Chat Room, click here. If you have problems with this method,
try the using the other two options.
Option 3 (mIRC32 or Ircle):
These two programs, mIRC32 for Windows, and Ircle for Mac, are designed
specifically as chat programs. You will probably find a greater
range of chatting features using these packages than you will accessing
chat using the two methods above. Click on the links below to download the Chat Client Software for your respective
platform. mIRC for Windows or Ircle for Mac.
Windows client: mIRC32
Macintosh client: Ircle
Install and execute the appropriate software, and configure your software
to connect to the following server, port, and channel. Give yourself a nickname with
which you would like to be identified as in the chat room.
Server: irc.othernet.org
Port(s): 6666
Channel: #LinnSoft (You should be given
a list of channels to choose from once you have connected)
