4:35 pm:<krunch> thanks chad
4:36 pm:<LS_Chad> Hey guys....beta 4 is up there alos
4:36 pm:<krunch> how about tool to drag and drop yesterdays range onto todays profile
4:36 pm:<LS_Chad> guess Bill already mentioned
4:36 pm:<krunch> where at?
4:36 pm:<LS_Bill> mentioned what?
4:36 pm:<LS_Chad> beta 4
4:36 pm:<Mike> beta 4 no mention so far Chad
4:36 pm:<mptrading> hey, would like to congratulate Dr linn for his great Team, Thumbs up for ChaD
4:36 pm:<Mike> you both just arrived
4:36 pm:<LS_Bill> nope, I just got here ;-)

4:37 pm:<X> Hello cadre. Welcome to Linn Software Chat room.
4:37 pm:<cadre> hi
4:37 pm:<mptrading> never seen a software company to "listen"to customers do good as this one.
4:38 pm:<LS_Chad> anyway, beta 4 is up there..anyone using an earlier beta is highly recommended to
upgrade...hold for link
4:38 pm:<LS_Chad> http://www.linnsoft.com/dl/win/beta/irt_win_830b4.exe
4:38 pm:<LS_Bill> http://www.linnsoft.com/dl/osx/beta/irt_osx_830b4.dmg
4:38 pm:<LS_Bill> is the mac version
4:38 pm:<Mike> thank you :)
4:39 pm:<LS_Chad> thanks mptrading

4:39 pm:<X> Hello HaydenK. Welcome to Linn Software Chat room.
4:39 pm:<LS_Chad> Only here for about 25 minutes guys...so fire away if you have any questions
4:39 pm:*** Goby has joined us
4:39 pm:<X> Hello Goby. Welcome to Linn Software Chat room.
4:39 pm:<HaydenK> Hi all
4:40 pm:<mptrading> also great help and enthusiast from Mike. big help there as well
4:40 pm:*** MPx has joined us
4:40 pm:<LS_Chad> Hey Hayden
4:40 pm:<fcat> chad do ya know if support got my email
4:40 pm:<fcat> re: data lag
4:40 pm:<fcat> if so any thoughts?
4:40 pm:<Mike> fcat on mac?
4:40 pm:<X> Hello MPx. Weclome to Linn Software Chat room.
4:41 pm:<HaydenK> Chad, I've got a TSYS rule of TIME > 1534 AND TIME < 2130, but often trades are submitted
after 2130 (Danish time). Is there another way to write the rule
4:41 pm:<fcat> no windoze most for irt
4:41 pm:*** MPx has left
4:41 pm:<LS_Chad> I haven't seen it fcat, Bill may have some comments on it
4:41 pm:<tuna_1> yes Chad and mike have been doing a great job in jps room
4:41 pm:<fcat> k ty Chad
4:41 pm:<Mike> wow windows should be no problem at all, I'd check periodicity of intraday charts maybe
4:42 pm:<LS_Chad> what are you trying to accomplish with the rule Hayden?
4:42 pm:<fcat> as short as they can be mike
4:42 pm:<LS_Chad> EOD exit?
4:42 pm:*** zonez has joined us
4:42 pm:<LS_Chad> I would experiment with using the POS token...generally much more reliable
4:42 pm:<X> Hello zonez. Welcome to Linn Software Chat room.
4:42 pm:<cadre> what do you guys think about IB's data? IB says it's tick for tick from the floor but others
disagree?
4:43 pm:<LS_Chad> setup as "bars from end of session"..POS = 1maybe...that way, you're guaranteed of it
getting you out
4:43 pm:<zonez> hello @x :?
4:43 pm:*** David has joined us
4:43 pm:<tuna_1> bot
4:43 pm:<HaydenK> So POS > 1534 and POS < 2130? Not sure about the proper setup of POS in this case
4:43 pm:<Mike> ok fcat I defer to Bill then might send Bill your db for speed test there. you hav emany
charts open? many symbols watched?
4:43 pm:<LS_Chad> yea..@x is a friendly fellow
4:44 pm:<X> Hello David. Welcome to Linn Software Chat room.
4:44 pm:*** IRT_USER has joined us
4:44 pm:*** MPx has joined us
4:44 pm:<David> hello
4:44 pm:<X> Hello IRT_USER. Welcome to Linn Software Chat room.
4:44 pm:<LS_Chad> Hayden...are you trying to just do an end of day exit here?
4:44 pm:<fcat> 26 charts mike
4:45 pm:<LS_Bill> IB data streamed to IRT is a series of price changes, bid/ask changes bidask size changes
4:45 pm:<LS_Bill> it's not exactly tick data
4:45 pm:<Mike> Cadre I believe IB sends all prices, ie ticks at all prices
4:45 pm:<LS_Bill> ticks at same price are aggregated into a single price update
4:45 pm:<Mike> but some are packaged ticks i think
4:45 pm:<HaydenK> I don't want new trades to start after 2130 (3:30 EST)
4:45 pm:*** Dukester has joined us
4:46 pm:<Mike> Hayden I have a time constraint on rule before the entry rules which is a confirm type rule
4:46 pm:<X> Hello Dukester. Weclome to Linn Software Chat room.
4:46 pm:<cadre> OK thanks, do you think dtn IQ provides cleaner data?
4:46 pm:<LS_Bill> your rule should work Hayden, syntax looks correct to me
4:46 pm:<Mike> I can help you later if needed Hayden
4:46 pm:<fcat> usually 800 symbols monitored intraday Mike -- cut to 200 but didn't notice a difference
4:47 pm:<HaydenK> Thanks Bill, but trades still get generated after 2130, that's the problem
4:47 pm:*** Dukester is now known as Duke
4:47 pm:<LS_Chad> fcat...you might want to take a look at this....was written a while back...but may find a
few good clues here
4:47 pm:<LS_Chad> http://www.linnsoft.com/tips/efficiency.htm
4:47 pm:<Mike> ok fcat Bill might advise best, 26 charts, 200 symbols live.
4:47 pm:<Mike> fcat what feed? and pc speed?
4:47 pm:<fcat> ty chad... read it
4:47 pm:<LS_Chad> that's a tip on "Running and Efficient Investor/RT"
4:47 pm:<fcat> did it
4:47 pm:<HaydenK> Mike, thanks. I'll be quiet and we can work on it later. It's not a big problem
4:47 pm:<fcat> still lagging
4:48 pm:<LS_Bill> level 2 is a huge load fcat
4:48 pm:<fcat> yes bill finding that
4:48 pm:<LS_Bill> how is your cpu usage during this time
4:48 pm:<LS_Bill> you monitoring that with task mgr?
4:48 pm:<fcat> fans a screaming
4:49 pm:<fcat> yes at times
4:49 pm:<fcat> L2 definately makes it worse
4:49 pm:<fcat> 40-50 % common under high vol
4:49 pm:<Mike> you have dual core PC? and hyper thread i hear is good thing
4:50 pm:<fcat> no dual core
4:50 pm:<LS_Chad> fcat, might want to try the new volume profile features, as an alternative to L2
4:50 pm:<fcat> would try if I thought it would help
4:50 pm:<fcat> run IRT on 3.2 p4 ht and 3.8 p4
4:51 pm:<LS_Bill> if you are running without maxing cpu this means that IRT is staying with the data as it
arrives
4:51 pm:<fcat> lagged just as much on 3.8 as 3.4
4:51 pm:<fcat> sorry 3.2
4:51 pm:<fcat> on 3.2 right now
4:51 pm:<LS_Bill> this could be external to IRT, I don't know anyone with a one minute data lag on DTN.IQ
4:51 pm:<MPx> Chad Beta 4 still doesn't have the Bonds decimal fixed?
4:52 pm:<LS_Bill> that work has been done but not yet in beta 4
4:52 pm:<fcat> running IB feed for a couple days worth atry bill or no?
4:53 pm:<Mike> Other Questions/Concerns/Ideas folks...
4:53 pm:<LS_Chad> MPx, did you just start trying bonds? because it's worked that way for years
4:53 pm:<LS_Bill> yes I was going to recommend that you try another service just to see
4:53 pm:<Mike> or any Linnsoft news besides beta 4...?
4:53 pm:<LS_Chad> fixed for b5 though...b5 eta, Thu afternoon
4:53 pm:<fcat> have never seen cpu maxed even 3.2
4:53 pm:<LS_Bill> maybe there are delays from the dtn.iq server to you that do not exist with say IB or
eSignal
4:53 pm:<MPx> thnx.
4:54 pm:<fcat> used to use IB
4:54 pm:<fcat> switched to dtniq
4:54 pm:<MPx> nono Chad had bonds for a while
4:54 pm:<MPx> just noticed the decimalization problem on Beta 3
4:54 pm:<LS_Bill> IRT does create a queue of unprocessed data but that queue builds up only when IRT is
behind; if the cpu is not maxed out, IRT is not behind
4:54 pm:<MPx> was ok on beta 2
4:54 pm:<fcat> for L2 integration and more symbols
4:54 pm:<MPx> hmmm...
4:54 pm:<Mike> fcat can test lag with 1 simple chart and annotation on it to CL , then test against IB TWS
order screen, or any broker screen maybe that will test if feed is the lag
4:55 pm:<fcat> will pay closer attention to cpu usage tomorrow bill
4:55 pm:<tuna_1> irt is always a bit slower here fwiw
4:55 pm:<tuna_1> but only a second
4:55 pm:<MPx> I used the ref lines on Binds before and the decimalization worked...they only started this odd
behavior with the betas i would think
4:55 pm:<tuna_1> or so
4:56 pm:<LS_Chad> either way, fixed going forward
4:56 pm:<MPx> thnx
4:56 pm:<fcat> I have tested it that way mike
4:56 pm:<Mike> Duke they added ability to see trades at bid x ask intraday Duke maybe Chad can post a picture
for you that have not seen this yet or i can one sec
4:56 pm:<LS_Chad> Also MPx, mptrading suggested range based delta/volume bars....got that working...will
likely be in coming release...maybe b5
4:56 pm:<krunch> just using one screen on laptop right now, i don't notice any lag in the time it takes to
switch between screens
4:56 pm:<LS_Bill> for beta 4 I added a new twist to the use of the mouse scroll wheel in traditional chart
windows
4:56 pm:<LS_Chad> range bars
4:57 pm:<cadre> Bill IB or dtniq? which do like?
4:57 pm:<LS_Bill> prior to this, moving the scroll wheel would just expand or contract the pixels per bar in
the chart
4:57 pm:<Mike> here Duke: http://www.linnsoft.com/tpo/charts/vp_tpo_0306.jpg
4:57 pm:<LS_Bill> so the wheel was useful for sort of zooming in and out easily
4:57 pm:<LS_Chad> http://www.linnsoft.com/tpo/charts/vp_range_2.jpg
4:57 pm:<LS_Chad> there is a 2.25 range bars of volume delta
4:57 pm:<Mike> PC only Bill?
4:58 pm:<LS_Bill> now, the software checks to see if you have an indicator selected in the chart and if so, it
passes those wheel movements to the indicator
4:58 pm:<LS_Bill> for example, if you have a trend line selected in the chart, the wheel can move it upon and
down
4:58 pm:<Mike> Chad will there be a change option?
4:58 pm:<Duke> interesting Mike
4:58 pm:<LS_Bill> once you tab off the selected indicator, the wheel will revert to expanding contracting
again
4:58 pm:<LS_Chad> could be done
4:58 pm:<Mike> yes Duke can see trades going off at bid or ask!
4:58 pm:<Mike> neat feature!
4:59 pm:<LS_Bill> Scroll wheel support is available only in our Windows version
4:59 pm:<LS_Chad> bars could be based on time, change, range, volume...sounds familiar
4:59 pm:<LS_Bill> someday we may be able to do this in the mac version
4:59 pm:<LS_Chad> might as well add "trades" while we're at it :)
4:59 pm:<Mike> Duke and watch #trades, time at prices, and can filter to watch larger blocks also Duke!!!
4:59 pm:<Duke> can you do one for tick?
4:59 pm:<LS_Bill> and you have to enable scroll wheel handling in Setup: Prefs: General by the way
4:59 pm:<krunch> hope ya added a way to turn it off, i use scroll to move chart up and down
4:59 pm:<LS_Bill> the wheel moves up/down one tick yes
4:59 pm:*** Merl4 has joined us
5 pm:<LS_Bill> where a tick is defined in the ref line setup for example
5 pm:<LS_Chad> what do you mean, Duke? the TICK symbol?
5 pm:<krunch> instead of arrows
5 pm:<krunch> lol
5 pm:<LS_Bill> there is a "round to" setting
5 pm:<Mike> scroll wheel for TPO charts for scrolling and font size is incredible feature. maybe can do scroll
wheel for VP also Chad?
5 pm:<X> Hello Merl4. Welcome to Linn Software Chat room.
5 pm:<LS_Chad> done for VP charts
5 pm:<LS_Bill> the mouse wheel movements do the same thing that the up/down arrow keys do, right.
5:01 pm:<LS_Chad> guys...I'm gonna have to run....have a good evening
5:01 pm:<LS_Bill> for VP, the wheel can be used to size the profile bars
5:01 pm:<krunch> thanks chad
5:01 pm:<fcat> nite chad
5:01 pm:<LS_Chad> and to scroll chart
5:01 pm:<fcat> thanks
5:01 pm:<LS_Bill> or to scroll the vp chart if there is more to show than will fit on screen.
5:01 pm:<Mike> Duke at your TA group you need to mention IRT might have best Market Profile type charts of any
program now :)
5:01 pm:<LS_Bill> the shift key held down tells IRT to adjust the profile bar size
5:02 pm:<David> Is there an easy way to to show measured move trend lines?
5:03 pm:<krunch> ok, will check it out on the scroll
5:03 pm:<MPx> might have the best?
5:03 pm:<MPx> Is the best
5:03 pm:<krunch> see how it works now
5:04 pm:<David> I duplicate trend lines but the nodes move when I try to locate?
5:04 pm:<Mike> dave you want dup trend line and keep it same slope and length ?
5:04 pm:*** DanT has joined us
5:05 pm:<David> yes , is that easy
5:05 pm:<X> Hello DanT. Welcome to Linn Software Chat room.
5:06 pm:*** Cliff has joined us
5:06 pm:<X> Hello Cliff. Welcome to Linn Software Chat room.
5:07 pm:<Cliff> hello
5:07 pm:<Mike> Dave, I drew trend line, then duplicated it, then selected constant slope
5:07 pm:<LS_Bill> I don't know of any easy way to do that. Any one else help?
5:07 pm:<MPx> wish i could help...I don't use traditional charts ..sorry
5:07 pm:<David> can you consider an addition down the road, fairly common method
5:08 pm:<LS_Bill> that's it mike
5:08 pm:<Mike> might be good to drag middle of trend line and like have it "locked" maybe for the duplicate?
5:08 pm:<DanT> I joined late, can you repost what we are trying to help with
5:08 pm:*** cadre has left
5:08 pm:<LS_Bill> if you draw the trend line first, then edit it's preference and change it to constant slope
5:08 pm:<Mike> Dave who you use duplicate? keep same slope and length also? then move it on chart a bit?
5:08 pm:<Duke> make it a preset
5:08 pm:<LS_Bill> then you can duplicate it and glide it right or left in the chart using the arrow keys on
the keyboard
5:09 pm:<krunch> have it change mouse when passing over, then left mouse down grabs and mouse moves it around
5:09 pm:<LS_Bill> you click on the line to "select it" then left right arrow will move it
5:09 pm:<Duke> speaking as the "king" of buttons
5:09 pm:<David> would like to just drag it in to place
5:09 pm:<krunch> now the programming to do that wow! not a clue
5:09 pm:*** cadre has joined us
5:09 pm:<Mike> agree Dave :)
5:09 pm:<DanT> I use trend lines a lot. You want to duplicate a line at the same slope and move it?
5:10 pm:<David> yes
5:10 pm:<Mike> yes Dan he wants that
5:10 pm:<DanT> OK. will look at this
5:10 pm:<LS_Bill> once the tline has been set to constant slope, you can easily move it left or right with the
arrow keys
5:10 pm:<David> want to setup measured moves for targets
5:11 pm:<LS_Bill> we do not support moving constant slope trend lines with the mouse, that would be a nice
enhancement
5:11 pm:<DanT> fib extension tool works very nice for that
5:11 pm:<David> perhaps I can use that tool
5:11 pm:<Mike> Bill he'd need fixed slope and fixed length also I believe
5:12 pm:<DanT> take a look at it . three mouse clicks. one for the low. one for the high. on for the
beginning of the next measured move
5:13 pm:<Mike> then drag and drop if click on line, and even see outline when dragging be the cat's meow for
that purpose.
5:13 pm:<David> that would be nice Dan
5:13 pm:<krunch> andrews pitch fork with some variables programmed into it
5:13 pm:<Mike> Dave I used to draw a box then duplicate that for a measured move horizontally and vertically!
5:13 pm:<David> Okay I might give that a go
5:13 pm:<LS_Bill> using the "rectangle (owl) tool
5:14 pm:<David> that would certainly work--I have done that before
5:14 pm:<DanT> just create the defaults for the 100% level and you have it
5:14 pm:<Mike> Bill rectangle needs fixed for the duplicate i see, just tried :)
5:16 pm:<Mike> Shape tools stays fixed guys :)
5:16 pm:<Mike> Bill possible to see Shape outline as we drag it? like hor ref lines do? else we kinda guess
when we drop it.
5:17 pm:*** Goby has left
5:17 pm:*** zonez has left
5:17 pm:<krunch> have good evening and thanks all
5:17 pm:*** krunch has left
5:17 pm:<cadre> good night
5:17 pm:*** cadre has left
5:17 pm:<Mike> Dave try Shape tool
5:18 pm:<LS_Bill> shape tool stays same size as you move it left and right with the arrow keys
5:18 pm:<Mike> be nice on Shape tool to have all corners grabbale and even the lines if possible.
5:18 pm:*** Duke has left
5:18 pm:<Mike> right Bill i try click and drag
5:18 pm:<LS_Bill> maybe someday, it's not a priority
5:18 pm:<David> looks like that will work fine
5:19 pm:<Mike> yes Dave that seems best to use for testing measured moves :)
5:19 pm:<David> will use the rectangle for now
5:19 pm:<David> thks
5:19 pm:<DanT> Do you want to see the slope of two identical trend lines on the same chart...is that part
important?
5:20 pm:<Mike> Dave try Shape that easier i think
5:20 pm:<David> That is what I am use to seeing-but the box is ok
5:21 pm:*** IRT_USER has left
5:21 pm:<Mike> but right duplicating and keeping trend lien fixed for measuring is a popular thing traders do
do.
5:21 pm:<tuna_1> will a pitch fork work?
5:21 pm:<David> box probably best for now
5:21 pm:<Mike> not best Tuna
5:22 pm:<Mike> right
5:22 pm:<Merl4> In the AM I do a scan for low of day symbols, after the 1st hour of trading....to find those
that have regained there opening price should I rescan using CL>OP?
5:22 pm:<Mike> I used to love to do those measured moves to then predict next move
5:22 pm:<DanT> I have a shortcut button on my chart for the default trend line. Click and draw one line.
right click on the line and set it to constant slope. now left click on the line to select it. then click on
the button and you can draw another line of the same slope. Only problem is it will not be the same lenght.
5:25 pm:<David> One last thing can I set default so there is no label on TL--or do I have to always turn it
off?
5:25 pm:<LS_Bill> when dragging a trend line, it would be a nice touch to show you how many bars the trend line
has thus far
5:25 pm:<Mike> good polish idea Dave and Dan :)
5:25 pm:<LS_Bill> you can turn off your default trend line preferences
5:26 pm:<DanT> I have no labels on my trend lines
5:26 pm:<LS_Bill> see Setup: Prefs: Technical Indicators
5:26 pm:<Mike> Bill or drag and keep fixed slope and length and even drag from middle grab of it.
5:26 pm:<LS_Bill> pick Trend line and uncheck the box
5:26 pm:<David> ok thanks
5:27 pm:*** krunch has joined us
5:27 pm:<Mike> IRT can set defaults for all TI's
5:27 pm:<LS_Bill> at present a trend line has handles at either end for adjusting the starting or endpoint
point of the line once it is in place
5:27 pm:<Mike> and presets of multiple setting also :)
5:27 pm:<krunch> tried the new beta at http://www.linnsoft.com/dl/win/beta/irt_win_830b4.exe, and got error
message that setup files were corrupt
5:28 pm:<LS_Bill> maybe another handle at its midpoint would be in order, to drag the line keeping slope
intact and number of bars intact
5:28 pm:<Mike> great idea Bill!!! that be prefect for them it seems :)
5:28 pm:<LS_Bill> one sec krunch, I'll dl it and see
5:28 pm:<Mike> great solution I meant
5:29 pm:<LS_Bill> I just downloaded it and ran it, works fine from here
5:29 pm:<Arno> newbie question - what's the easiest way to delete multiple instruments from a qp?
5:29 pm:<krunch> will try again
5:30 pm:<krunch> computers ahhhhhh
5:30 pm:<krunch> !!
5:30 pm:<krunch> lol
5:30 pm:<Mike> Arno all in the Quote page?
5:30 pm:<LS_Bill> Arno, just a few or lots of unwanted instruments?
5:30 pm:<Arno> just a few
5:30 pm:*** krunch has left
5:30 pm:<Arno> enough to make it painful to do one by one
5:30 pm:<LS_Bill> click on the tick to selected the row, then click green trashcan on qp toolbar
5:31 pm:<Mike> can you scan and filter then all to a new QP?
5:31 pm:<Mike> if can filter all to a new QP can delete all in QP one click :)
5:31 pm:<LS_Bill> do you have IRT Pro Arno?
5:32 pm:<Arno> no
5:32 pm:<Arno> actually yes
5:32 pm:<LS_Bill> the scanner in IRT Pro is what mike is talking about, useful tool for creating new
quotepages
5:33 pm:<LS_Bill> well here is a trick
5:33 pm:<Arno> let me try that.
5:33 pm:<LS_Bill> add V#1 to your quotepage
5:33 pm:<LS_Bill> and go down the list of symbols with the arrow keys and put a 1 in every row you want to
remove, leaving others blank or zero 0
5:34 pm:<Arno> ok - I think I see where you're going with this.
5:34 pm:<LS_Bill> scan for "qp="name" AND V#1 != 1
5:34 pm:<David> thks all, goodnight
5:34 pm:<LS_Bill> this will produce a new page with the former symbols in the quotepage named "name"
5:34 pm:<LS_Bill> but will not include those you marked
5:34 pm:<Mike> nite Dave
5:35 pm:<Arno> ok - that will work.
5:35 pm:*** David has left
5:35 pm:<LS_Bill> you can then save that newly created page on top of the former one by naming it the same
5:35 pm:<Mike> good question Arno
5:35 pm:*** Terry has joined us
5:35 pm:<X> Hello Terry. Welcome to Linn Software Chat room.
5:35 pm:<Arno> it's my 1st day using irt with a datafeed - so I'm having a lot of fun. LOL
5:35 pm:<Mike> excellent, fun program really
5:36 pm:<Terry> Hello
5:36 pm:<LS_Bill> any other "day 1" questions?
5:36 pm:<fcat> ok bill I made room in my layout for task manager to sit tomorrow
5:36 pm:<LS_Bill> ok
5:36 pm:<Mike> buttons, fkeys can toggle things on /off and speed up things you do often
5:36 pm:<fcat> will run my usual setup and keep an eye on tm
5:36 pm:<Arno> um - well I think there's a tutorial around how to ensure all your data is there.
5:36 pm:<LS_Bill> Hi Terry, any questions today?
5:37 pm:<DanT> I am still on NinjaTrader 4.0 because it is working fine and I will need to change a lot of
text messages to go to 5.0...I think. I know you have been working on the interface with 5.0. Doe is use
text messages...or does IRT talk to NT in a different manner with the dll interface?
5:37 pm:<LS_Bill> NT 5 now provides a directly interface via a DLL
5:37 pm:<LS_Bill> there are no text files involved in the exchange of information
5:38 pm:<LS_Bill> IRT calls the DLL to send an order to NT
5:38 pm:<DanT> what does that mean. How do I tell NT to launch an order ?
5:38 pm:<LS_Bill> and retrieves status from the DLL upon request
5:38 pm:<LS_Bill> you create a "trading order"
5:38 pm:<Terry> Actually yes., on occasion, I will open a chart and get a alarm voice saying over and over a
high alert, 10 times or so but I cant see where I have the alert activated.
5:38 pm:<LS_Bill> hmmm
5:39 pm:<LS_Bill> first thing to check is the alarm setups for the instrument's) inside that chart
5:39 pm:<LS_Bill> does the chart have any trend lines or signal markers in it?
5:39 pm:<DanT> OK...I will look at the help. Sounds like I will need to use a new approach.
5:40 pm:<LS_Bill> DanT, a trading order is a preset, a setup for the order, set with destination
"NinjaTrader"
5:40 pm:<LS_Bill> see Setup: Trading Order
5:40 pm:<Mike> Dan probably tons easier now :)
5:40 pm:<DanT> ok
5:41 pm:<DanT> looking at that now. thanks.
5:41 pm:<LS_Bill> you can right-click on any ticker symbol, Terry, and choose Alarms, to see if there are
alarms set for the symbol
5:42 pm:<LS_Bill> you can add the Alarms data column to your quote page and quickly see which symbols have
alarms set
5:42 pm:<Terry> is there a way I can see all open alerts?
5:43 pm:<DanT> can I launch a NinjaTrader strategy from there that will launch the stops and target in NT in
one step? can do that now with the text messages.
5:44 pm:<Terry> The one symbol on which it occurs mostly is the ER2 and I just checked and no alert. What I
get is a voice saying attention an alert target has been reached.....
5:44 pm:<Terry> and on and on...
5:45 pm:<LS_Bill> is there a signal marker or a trend line in the chart? or a reference line that has this
alert sound associated ?
5:45 pm:<LS_Bill> send the setup for the chart to support@linnsoft.com and I'll take a look
5:46 pm:<LS_Bill> right click in chart and pick Save:As Chart Definition
5:46 pm:<LS_Bill> email the textfile
5:47 pm:<Terry> Not that I know of. I will check
5:47 pm:<LS_Bill> it could be a signal firing in the chart that has that sound associated
5:47 pm:<LS_Bill> some indicators can trigger "signal actions" which in turn can sound certain sounds.
5:48 pm:<Mike> could be old trend line that is on past days.
5:48 pm:<LS_Bill> signal markers, trendlines, references lines
5:48 pm:<Mike> can double click on chart open space to see all elements in the chart might look at that list
also Terry.
5:48 pm:<Terry> I will send the chart def but I am not absolutely sure which chart it is. I believe it
happens on various. Maybe I will just wait until it happens again and send you the chart def and whatever
else you need. hows that.
5:48 pm:<LS_Bill> ok
5:49 pm:<MPx> Bill hows the OS X prefs issue coming along?
5:49 pm:<DanT> OK...getting closer I think. In NT 4.0 I use signal actions with text messages to talk to NT.
It looks like the way to convert to 5.0 is to convert each one of the signal actions to send a trading order
instead of a text message. That is it, yes?
5:49 pm:<Merl4> I still have the question, I run an AM scan for LowOfDay, after the 1st hour of trading, to
find symbols from that scan that has crossed back above there opening, what scan should I use? CL>OP?
5:49 pm:<LS_Bill> I see no problem here on my OS X system MPx
5:49 pm:<MPx> !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5:49 pm:<MPx> cant be
5:49 pm:<LS_Bill> yes, Dan, that's it
5:50 pm:<DanT> very helpful to know. thanks
5:50 pm:<LS_Bill> I asked you to give me an example, send that in?
5:50 pm:<MPx> yes sir
5:50 pm:<MPx> with screen shots and all
5:51 pm:<LS_Bill> ok, I'll take a detailed look after chat
5:51 pm:<MPx> k
5:51 pm:<Mike> Merl I think so, let's let Bill confirm
5:51 pm:<mptrading> bill, I just ran the Beta 4 installer and now it says my user name in non recognizable..
5:51 pm:<Merl4> k
5:51 pm:<mptrading> any ideas
5:51 pm:<Mike> not 100% sure OP is day open or bar open though
5:51 pm:<Merl4> 5 min chart
5:52 pm:<LS_Bill> run the scan on 1 minute or 5 minute bars, using formula CL > DAYOP
5:52 pm:<Merl4> perfect
5:52 pm:<LS_Bill> i.e. the Close of the most recent bar is above the day's open price
5:52 pm:<Mike> yes DAYOP thought so.
5:53 pm:<Merl4> thanks
5:53 pm:<Arno> oh I have one more newbie question -
5:53 pm:<LS_Bill> welcome
5:53 pm:<LS_Bill> ok
5:54 pm:<Terry> The new tpo charts are excellent. Still trying to figure out the specifics of the volume
profile and how the footprint works, though. is the latest beta just bug fixes or are there new features?
5:54 pm:<Arno> when scanning - it sometimes says "100 insufficient data"
5:54 pm:<Arno> how can I tell which instruments don't have all the data?
5:54 pm:<DanT> not sure if you were able to catch an earlier message on this Bill, Can I launch an NT
"strategy" as a trading order that will tell NT to launch the stops and targets at the same time?
5:54 pm:<LS_Bill> the beta 3 had some volume profile improvements, beta 4 was mostly fixes
5:55 pm:*** Steve_W has joined us
5:55 pm:<LS_Bill> Arno, there is a scan token called BARS
5:55 pm:<Steve_W> hi all
5:55 pm:<LS_Bill> you can run a scan on say daily data looking for BARS < 225
5:55 pm:<Arno> ok - I'll add that in too.
5:55 pm:<LS_Bill> that would give you the list of symbols having less than 225 daily bars, about a year of
data
5:56 pm:<LS_Bill> similarly run same formula on 1 minute data
5:56 pm:<Arno> so far so good.
5:56 pm:<X> Hello Steve_W. Welcome to Linn Software Chat room.
5:57 pm:<Steve_W> Bill that works? Bars < 255 will list stocks with less than 255 days data? What if a
stock has no curreNt datA but has data frm 3 years back to 8 years back but no current data?
5:58 pm:<Steve_W> will it list that stock?
5:58 pm:<LS_Bill> BARS tells you to total number of bars on the database.
5:59 pm:<Steve_W> ok
5:59 pm:<Steve_W> great
5:59 pm:<LS_Bill> but it doesn't care about when those bars occurred
5:59 pm:<Mike> Open Questions yet: DanT...
5:59 pm:<Steve_W> so I can eliminate bogus tickers with no data but keep old stocks for backtesting purposes
5:59 pm:<LS_Bill> there s a way to find out how many bars there are since some starting time
5:59 pm:<Steve_W> excellent
6 pm:<tuna_1> mike
6 pm:<LS_Bill> but I don't remember which token that is ;-)
6 pm:<Steve_W> bill is the quoteage?
6 pm:<tuna_1> did u see mptradings q?
6 pm:<Steve_W> it
6 pm:<Mike> there a near complete Token page on web site
6 pm:<Cliff> How do I turn off sound effects here?
6 pm:<Mike> yes Tuna he in Question Que also then
6 pm:<tuna_1> k
6:01 pm:<Cliff> When I right click and get menu to uncheck sound option, the window closes when I try to
uncheck
6:01 pm:<LS_Bill> Setup Preferences Sounds
6:01 pm:<Steve_W> I think the token measures the number of seconds back there is a quote ..... or something
along those lines
6:01 pm:<LS_Bill> has a quiet mode checkbox
6:02 pm:<LS_Bill> if you mean in the chat itself, right-click in the chat window to turn off the sound
6:02 pm:*** Merl4 has left
6:02 pm:<Steve_W> QTAGE is the token you were referring to Bill - I think
6:03 pm:<Cliff> I did mean it chat itself, Bill, but the method you just recommended seemed to work--when I
right clicked the menu that appeared disappeared as soon as I tried to uncheck sound on incoming messages
6:03 pm:<Mike> Bill Dan has open Question yet...
6:03 pm:<MPx> I do?
6:03 pm:<Mike> DanT
6:03 pm:<MPx> oh
6:04 pm:<LS_Bill> yes danT, the trading order setup includes the specification of a strategy name for the
order
6:04 pm:<LS_Bill> you specify an account and a strategy name for the order (or leave the strategy name off if
there is none)
6:05 pm:<Mike> ok All open questions answered I believe...
6:05 pm:<Mike> need to wrap soon Bill?
6:05 pm:<DanT> ok. Thanks Bill. Sounds good.
6:06 pm:<tuna_1> mptradings user name woundn't work
6:06 pm:<LS_Bill> you setup strategy inside NT, then use that name in your trading order setup.
6:06 pm:<Mike> DanT might need to read what's new or search for help on that newer feature :)
6:06 pm:<DanT> Looking at that now.
6:06 pm:<Mike> tuna it solved now
6:06 pm:<LS_Bill> we discussed that offline, he accidentally launched into wrong feed version, easy fix
6:06 pm:<tuna_1> k
6:07 pm:<Mike> Any last questions, issues folks...
6:07 pm:<LS_Bill> there is a built-in help topic on NinjaTrader
6:07 pm:<Mike> appreciate live hour and half Bill :) excellent!
6:07 pm:<Mike> DanT need newer version fyi :)
6:07 pm:<Mike> I See you on 812 Dan :)
6:08 pm:<DanT> what version is needed for the built in NT help?
6:08 pm:<tuna_1> yes when will chad get the look back feature programmed/
6:08 pm:<tuna_1> ?
6:08 pm:<fcat> almost forgot bill
6:08 pm:<LS_Bill> Steve_W yes that QTAGE is the age of the last quote, that has to do with realtime data
reception though, not historical data
6:08 pm:<Mike> Gosh Dan, I'd just get latest beta or 823 at least Dan :)
6:08 pm:<fcat> any word from dtniq on post market data not coming thru completely
6:09 pm:<LS_Bill> I'm sorry fcat, they don't have an answer for us yet.
6:09 pm:<fcat> they finally answered my email and simply said that it's being sent
6:09 pm:<MPx> fcat u mean your live data after hours on the futures will not come through correctly?
6:09 pm:<fcat> not much of one for me either
6:09 pm:<fcat> :)
6:09 pm:<LS_Bill> IRT uses a different "protocol" than other IQFEED clients
6:10 pm:<fcat> ok ty bill
6:10 pm:<Steve_W> Bill when you find the name of the token that measures current daily data please let me know
what it is and how to use it. My dbase of 9000+ stocks can use all the weeding tools available
6:10 pm:<fcat> yes the data come thru if I open the it interface
6:10 pm:<LS_Bill> this is a source of confusion, we are "different" because we support IQ FEED directly on
windows and mac, without using DTN software
6:11 pm:<fcat> I see
6:11 pm:<LS_Bill> so my guess is that the data is being send and received to normal IQFEED clients, but that
it is not being sent the way it used to be for our protocol and IRT is missing it
6:11 pm:<fcat> just seem weird that everything comes thru except last price
6:11 pm:<MPx> woah Im lost here....it work sin the day but not at night?
6:11 pm:<LS_Bill> I'll call again tomorrow and see if I can get an answer
6:12 pm:<fcat> yes mpx
6:12 pm:<LS_Bill> we're talking about after market quotes on DTNIQ FEED
6:12 pm:<MPx> your inst session is worng
6:12 pm:<fcat> and post market bid/ask price/size vol etc come thru
6:12 pm:<fcat> but no last
6:12 pm:<LS_Bill> this is a data reception issue, not session related
6:13 pm:<MPx> if I am not mistaken ppl assume that the inst can be set to 9:30-4:15 but override the chart
witha 24 hour session and expect the data to flow...doesn't work
6:13 pm:<fcat> time and sales will show every trade but the price will always show as the daily close :)
6:13 pm:<MPx> yes time and sales will be affected by this
6:14 pm:<MPx> its your session
6:14 pm:<MPx> 100% sure
6:14 pm:<fcat> vol is correct

6:14 pm:<fcat> thanks arno

6:15 pm:<fcat> disinteresting to see it's not platform specific

6:15 pm:<fcat> good point mike
6:15 pm:<MPx> almost 100% sure it s the session set up problem
