4:34 pm:<Mike> hi all
4:34 pm:<Mike> Hi Bill
4:34 pm:<LS_Bill> hello everyone
4:34 pm:<Mike> Hello LS_Bill. Welcome to #Linnsoft. :)
4:34 pm:<Mike> Hello LS_Bill. Welcome to the Linn Software Chat room.
4:34 pm:<Mike> How all at HQ been?
4:35 pm:<Mike> trade show news? IRT news?
4:35 pm:<LS_Bill> new release available today
4:35 pm:<LS_Bill> 8.3.4
4:35 pm:<LS_Bill> web site not updated yet though
4:36 pm:<LS_Bill> http://www.linnsoft.com/dl/win/irt_win_834.exe
4:36 pm:<LS_Bill> http://www.linnsoft.com/dl/osx/irt_osx_834.dmg
4:37 pm:<Mike> ok anything real new in it?
4:37 pm:<LS_Bill> there is now a duplicate command for charts
4:38 pm:<LS_Bill> in file menu and in chart popup menus
4:38 pm:<LS_Bill> so you can make duplicates of any open chart window
4:38 pm:<LS_Bill> nice for creating multichart layouts
4:38 pm:<Mike> neat
4:38 pm:*** fcat has joined us
4:39 pm:<Mike> I have littel question on button toggling a custom indicator on /off
4:39 pm:<LS_Bill> a few fixes
4:39 pm:<Daniel> does it prompt for new or same symbol?
4:39 pm:<LS_Bill> chart setup wizard was adding a one period moving average to all traditional charts for example
4:40 pm:<LS_Bill> the Dupicate command just makes a 100% clone of the chart in question
4:40 pm:<Mike> it is on and save it's pane is 1 inch, then toggle off and on again it does nto remember it's pane height. as you probably know. so every time i do that I have to resize all panes to what i/user desired i guess.
4:40 pm:<Daniel> ahh ok
4:40 pm:<LS_Bill> same symbol, everything same except the chart has a new name you give it
4:40 pm:<LS_Bill> you can then change it anyway you wish
4:41 pm:<LS_Bill> works for all chart types, tpo, vol profile, trandtional etc.
4:41 pm:<Daniel> would be neat for a pop up to ask "same or new?" click new a field opens presto
4:41 pm:<Daniel> k
4:41 pm:<LS_Bill> same or new what?
4:41 pm:<Daniel> symbol
4:42 pm:<LS_Bill> in the general case, sometimes you would leave the same symbol and change just the periodicity for example
4:42 pm:<Daniel> like how you have the pop up prompt for the roll over feature
4:42 pm:<LS_Chad> some may change symbol...some may change periodicity...but both are easy enough after you have your new chart....
4:42 pm:<Daniel> right
4:42 pm:<LS_Bill> I kept it simple. I didn't aim it at those wanting multi-symbols
4:43 pm:<LS_Bill> k.i.s.s
4:43 pm:<Daniel> y
4:44 pm:<LS_Chad> New indicator called "Volume Breakdown" that gives you buy volume, sell volume, etc...in a very efficient manner
4:44 pm:<Daniel> what happens if the buttons are on hidden and you duplicate?
4:45 pm:<Daniel> buttons turn on or stay hidden?
4:45 pm:<LS_Bill> never tested that, but it should be an exact replica of the original
4:46 pm:<LS_Chad> every property of original chart...except for maybe the name (and position...slight offset)...are mirrored
4:47 pm:<LS_Bill> well, I just tested that case Daniel. As you know from experience, windows ALWAYS open initially with buttons shown
4:47 pm:<Mike> Chad could paint be enhanced to paint a ma line? so I can then paint it 3 colors?
4:47 pm:<LS_Bill> you have to hide them
4:48 pm:<Daniel> ah ok
4:48 pm:<LS_Bill> otherwise a user might open a chart with invisible buttons and never even guess that they are there.
4:48 pm:<Daniel> didnt you fix somethng that was causing aproblem with that a fewmonths ago?
4:48 pm:<LS_Bill> I've been over this before. The hide button feature is not a "saved preference"
4:49 pm:<LS_Chad> just use 2 custom indicators on top of MA line Mike
4:49 pm:<LS_Chad> MA * (MA > MA.1)
4:49 pm:<LS_Chad> MA * (MA < MA.1)
4:49 pm:<LS_Chad> etc
4:50 pm:<Mike> ok MA lien is say black
4:50 pm:<LS_Chad> "connect non-zero lines"
4:50 pm:<Mike> then I need 2 ci's to be red and green else black huh?
4:50 pm:<Mike> but it is colored not based on slope but some flagged criteria
4:51 pm:<LS_Chad> the multiple it by that criteria
4:51 pm:<LS_Chad> MA * (whatever criteria)
4:51 pm:<LS_Chad> MA * (CCI > 70)
4:53 pm:<Mike> ok thanks I try simple first then try more
4:53 pm:<Mike> Paint bars indicator has >1 <-1 and 0 so it almost is p erfect
4:54 pm:<LS_Bill> fcat, I plan to test with your db tomorrow, FYI
4:55 pm:<Daniel> Chad opening TPO charts don't auto scroll to current price
4:55 pm:<LS_Bill> to get to the bottom of the 1 minute bar problem you've been havng
4:55 pm:<Daniel> only vertical level but not horizontal position
4:56 pm:<fcat> tks Bill
4:57 pm:<fcat> don't think you have my db yet tho
4:57 pm:<LS_Bill> getting it tomorrow
4:58 pm:<LS_Bill> thought you mailed it a week ago
4:58 pm:<fcat> not onless you want me to email a 375mb file
4:58 pm:<fcat> I'm sorry Bill
4:58 pm:<fcat> forgot to mail
4:59 pm:<Mike> naughty fcat
4:59 pm:<fcat> just went out this am
4:59 pm:<LS_Bill> oh, so I won't be testng tomorrow ;-)
4:59 pm:<fcat> sorry
4:59 pm:<fcat> :(
4:59 pm:<LS_Bill> ok
4:59 pm:<fcat> absent minded
4:59 pm:<LS_Bill> aren't we all?
4:59 pm:<fcat> too many irons in the fire
4:59 pm:<fcat> lol
5 pm:<fcat> TWS keeps giving me the pinl lines
5 pm:<fcat> *pink
5:01 pm:<fcat> pink highlights around all fields in columns and rows
5:02 pm:<fcat> that's a lost connection isn't it
5:02 pm:<Daniel> yes just now
5:02 pm:<fcat> y
5:02 pm:<Daniel> alwats at 5 pm est
5:02 pm:<Daniel> always
5:02 pm:<fcat> nk?
5:02 pm:<Daniel> yeah
5:02 pm:<fcat> never noticed before
5:02 pm:<Daniel> a partial log out...lookslike order entry log out but not data logo out
5:02 pm:<Mike> see my frist Question above Bill? related to custom indicator panes on and off with button?
5:03 pm:<LS_Bill> one sec mike
5:03 pm:<Mike> one sec fcat
5:03 pm:<Mike> pink menas loss of tradign desk but still gets quotes
5:04 pm:<LS_Bill> the toggle indicator feature does not have the capability to remember pane sizes
5:04 pm:<fcat> aha
5:04 pm:<Mike> yes I noticed Bill
5:04 pm:<LS_Bill> when you click the button, IRT looks to see if the indicator is present in the chart
5:04 pm:<fcat> I see my cover order disappeared from TWS
5:04 pm:<LS_Bill> if so, the indicator is deleted, remove, from the chart, losing all pane size information.
5:04 pm:<Mike> right maybe it could remember what the CI pane was when last used.
5:05 pm:<Mike> what CI pane size location porportionality of chart etc...
5:05 pm:<LS_Bill> when you press the togl button again. all IRT knows is the setup for the indicator, so it adds the indicator back again, using defaults for pane size
5:05 pm:<LS_Bill> this feature is based on technical indicator preset.
5:06 pm:<LS_Bill> a preset is just a collection of indicator preferences, there is no place to save other attributes
5:06 pm:<LS_Bill> just not possible mike
5:06 pm:<Mike> ok
5:08 pm:<Daniel> ouch ..what is this "color only " setting in the volume profile chart...the chart gets squeezed
5:08 pm:<Daniel> the field get squeezed I meant
5:09 pm:<Daniel> text fields*
5:09 pm:<Daniel> some have little blue vertical lines some don't
5:10 pm:<Daniel> documentation about the features of this chart available yet?
5:10 pm:<LS_Chad> yea...little bit
5:10 pm:<LS_Chad> http://www.linnsoft.com/profiles/
5:11 pm:<Daniel> thnx
5:11 pm:<LS_Bill> little bit ;-)
5:11 pm:<Daniel> lol
5:11 pm:<LS_Bill> chads been busy
5:11 pm:<LS_Chad> What's New is usually good place to start
5:11 pm:<LS_Chad> would take you to the page
5:12 pm:<Daniel> yes he's got a lot of email correspondance ;-)
5:12 pm:<Mike> can i get mroe info on that new backtest feature? report? forgot it's name?
5:12 pm:<Mike> and how to use it compare to etc...
5:12 pm:<LS_Chad> when I get time Mike
5:12 pm:<Mike> sure no rush
5:12 pm:<LS_Chad> funded by another user....still in beta stages
5:13 pm:<LS_Chad> but pretty solid in the current form
5:13 pm:<LS_Chad> you may have missed what I said earlier...but there is a new indicator called "Volume Breakdown" that gives the delta stuff (buy vol, sell vol) in intraday bar charts
5:13 pm:<LS_Chad> very efficiently
5:13 pm:<LS_Chad> with statistical options like avg, min, max...and cumulative for day
5:14 pm:<Daniel> no I saw that just didnt know what you meant
5:14 pm:<Daniel> had me looking in the whats new section on volume profile charts section
5:17 pm:<Daniel> ah that sthe indicator I created last year with mpd
5:17 pm:<LS_Bill> all of the chart types now have the "floating window" option in their popup menus
5:18 pm:<Mike> Great Chad! this what I called pressure bars I belive was to innefficient before to run live
5:18 pm:<Daniel> yes Bill even in OSX ;-)
5:18 pm:<LS_Bill> the Raw Tick chart was the last one
5:18 pm:<Mike> I wanted a delta tick based then show net on a 1 m in candle chart for example
5:18 pm:<LS_Chad> yea...will probably get to adding a "bars" option directly to the indicator
5:18 pm:<LS_Bill> all windows float in OS X
5:18 pm:<LS_Bill> ;-)
5:18 pm:<LS_Chad> indicator is not available in RTL yet
5:18 pm:<Daniel> yes but the menu shows it !
5:18 pm:<Daniel> lol
5:18 pm:<LS_Bill> took windows 10 years to catch up
5:19 pm:<Mike> I want your delta chart you initiated Chad, this new indicator is for that purpose?
5:19 pm:<LS_Chad> yes Mike....this indictor...when added to any periodicity..loads ticks
5:19 pm:<LS_Bill> on the mac platfrom, the Floating WIndow menu item is present, but is dimmed out since it is not applicable
5:19 pm:<LS_Chad> does it's calc...then efficiently handles each new tick as it comes in....
5:19 pm:<Daniel> yeah
5:19 pm:<LS_Chad> calcs with every tick
5:19 pm:<Mike> Great chad!
5:19 pm:<Mike> perfect!
5:20 pm:<LS_Chad> so charts with this might be little slow to load..and initially calculate
5:20 pm:<Daniel> and if you hid it Bill would it be a problem for the menu diffrence for XVT between the two versions?
5:20 pm:<LS_Chad> but very fast / efficient with recalcs
5:20 pm:<Daniel> bring on RTL fo rthis!
5:21 pm:<Daniel> I would want to measure the distance from a POC with this
5:22 pm:<Daniel> so I can see the amount of delta vol above below a POC
5:22 pm:<Mike> I try it now Chad! :)
5:22 pm:<LS_Chad> Gotta run guys....take care
5:22 pm:<Mike> woops I need tha as RTL to place markers I see Chad :(
5:23 pm:*** drake has left
5:24 pm:<LS_Bill> eventually mike. this is just phase 1
5:24 pm:<LS_Bill> this is an unusual indicator, has to update tick by tick to track the buy/sell volume
5:24 pm:<Mike> excellent
5:25 pm:<LS_Bill> so it's a little more work to make it work inside a CI as an RTL token
5:25 pm:<Mike> I now have a MA on it and markers for ma slope change and wanted to trade those signals
5:25 pm:<Daniel> yes I made this indicator last year using MPD and it worked but...
5:25 pm:<Daniel> spent 5 hours online with Eddy
5:26 pm:<LS_Bill> in fact it my be very difficult to make this an RTL token since the CI would in turn have to update every tick
5:26 pm:<LS_Bill> otherwise the efficiencies chad describes do not apply
5:26 pm:<LS_Bill> you may as well do it using MPD, it would be equivalent
5:26 pm:<Mike> right well all bars except current as static and no need to recalc on as we know
5:26 pm:<Daniel> would it be possible to have it start at a particular price instead of a time?
5:27 pm:<LS_Bill> right Mike, there would be fewer ticks to load at each calc
5:27 pm:<Mike> MPD I do now Bill kills PC cpu totally bad
5:27 pm:<LS_Bill> how fast is your CPU, 3.2 GHZ ?
5:27 pm:<LS_Bill> Pentium 4?
5:28 pm:<Mike> forgot what do I have Dan?
5:28 pm:<LS_Chad> yea..thought this through...if you're doing "cumulative for day"...we would have to reload all bars of day each calc....if used within CI
5:28 pm:<LS_Bill> MPD is disk bound usually though, not CPU bound
5:28 pm:<LS_Chad> otherwise, could load substantially less
5:28 pm:<Mike> I do cumulative per bar Chad I believe
5:28 pm:<LS_Chad> but I'll probably try to do as much as possibly within the VB indicator itself....to prevent having to use in CI
5:29 pm:<LS_Chad> right now, the recalc on this indicator is instant...< 1ms
5:29 pm:<Mike> I have MA on the delta/pressure bars, then marker on teh ma slope change
5:29 pm:<LS_Chad> gotta run....seriously this time :)
5:29 pm:<Daniel> 2.8 celi I think Mike
5:29 pm:<LS_Chad> later
5:29 pm:<Daniel> later
5:30 pm:<Mike> Questions/Issues anyone????
5:31 pm:<Daniel> yes...
5:33 pm:<LS_Bill> yes Daniel?
5:33 pm:<Daniel> you see those 3 entry/stop/tgt ref line tokens on a traditional chart...can we please have them in their current simple inplemenation into a TPO chart for Ninja or is that only possible with Autotrader and if so could Auto trader be used in the background to monitor positions in TWS and have them show up?
5:34 pm:<Mike> all you need is traditional type ref lines on TPO type charts :)
5:34 pm:<Daniel> trade on NT5 but have AT scan TWS for trade postion
5:34 pm:<Daniel> and have this reflected on a TPO chart
5:34 pm:<Mike> and VP charts traditional ref lines be great :)
5:35 pm:<Mike> horizontal reference lines
5:35 pm:<Daniel> that is ofcourse until Ray gives us feedback from NT5
5:36 pm:<LS_Bill> which feed will IRT be running?
5:36 pm:<Daniel> TWS
5:37 pm:<LS_Bill> the problem is that TWS only allows one client program to use client 0, and only that client sees all of the position updates
5:37 pm:<LS_Bill> from other client ids
5:37 pm:<LS_Bill> normally NT runs as client 0
5:37 pm:<Daniel> right so A would see my TWS positions right?
5:37 pm:<Daniel> AT*
5:37 pm:<LS_Bill> AT would have to run as client 1 say, and it would see only client 1 trades
5:38 pm:<Daniel> ahhh
5:38 pm:<Daniel> I see the problem
5:38 pm:<LS_Bill> maybe NT could run as client 1, and AT run as client 0 and see all the trades
5:38 pm:<LS_Bill> I don't know
5:38 pm:<Daniel> thought I found a work around
5:38 pm:<Daniel> hmm
5:38 pm:<Mike> many trades are held in clients
5:39 pm:<Mike> stop target is held in clients though
5:39 pm:<LS_Bill> I thought Chad had updated the TPO charts to allow ref lines using any V# variable
5:39 pm:<Daniel> right
5:39 pm:<Daniel> yes he did but how do I use them to see my TWS positions?
5:40 pm:<Daniel> with Autotrader monitoring TWS
5:40 pm:<Daniel> ?
5:40 pm:<LS_Bill> If you use NT, IRT will have the position state and the position size
5:40 pm:<LS_Bill> it just won't have the stop and target informatin
5:40 pm:<Daniel> ahh dang
5:41 pm:<Daniel> size and state not as usefull as entry stop tgt...have to push Ray then
5:41 pm:<Daniel> oh well
5:41 pm:<LS_Bill> Daniel, in NT are those stops and targets changing dynamically
5:41 pm:<LS_Bill> trailing stop?
5:41 pm:<LS_Bill> using an NT strategy?
5:41 pm:<Daniel> manual
5:42 pm:<Daniel> yes manually adjusted stops and targets in a stratey
5:42 pm:<LS_Bill> so you can set the same values into V#'s in IRT right?
5:42 pm:<LS_Bill> and those will then get displayed in IRT charts
5:42 pm:<Daniel> hopefully
5:42 pm:<Daniel> yes
5:42 pm:<Daniel> is there some simple minded explanation on how to set this up somewhere?
5:43 pm:<LS_Bill> all you need is a QP with V#98 and V#99 or whatever in your Trading List page open so you can enter the number, paste it in
5:44 pm:<LS_Bill> then you setup ref lines in your tpo chart(s) to show V#98 (stop) and V#99(target)
5:45 pm:<Daniel> without the need to set up trading order defaults in IRT?
5:46 pm:<Daniel> I can just have IRT see NT5's strategy and have those V#s set to stop/tgt/entry
5:46 pm:<LS_Bill> how do you plan to initiate your trades?
5:46 pm:<Daniel> with NT5
5:47 pm:<Daniel> manually
5:47 pm:<LS_Bill> yeah
5:47 pm:<Daniel> with a stop/tgt submittied
5:47 pm:<Daniel> in a strategy
5:47 pm:<Daniel> ok will try to set it up tonight...expect an email before midnight
5:48 pm:<Daniel> if I get lost
5:48 pm:<LS_Bill> I'll stay up late just waiting for it ;-)
5:48 pm:<Daniel> hehe
5:49 pm:<Mike> Bill maybe someday we coudl have special tokens for stops targets entries?
5:49 pm:<Daniel> simplest way would be for you to allow the 3 you already have in traditionla charts or is that a problem?
5:49 pm:<Daniel> because the TPO charts would need that choice in a drop down menu?
5:49 pm:<Mike> i have to l ook at my feedback chart maybe it is ther enow
5:49 pm:<Mike> one sec
5:50 pm:<LS_Bill> we could add STOP, TARGET, ENTRY as choices in the TPO pretty easily I guess
5:50 pm:<Daniel> !!
5:50 pm:<Daniel> yes
5:50 pm:<LS_Bill> so you could manually enter info into those instead of having to use V# variables
5:50 pm:<Daniel> yes
5:50 pm:<Mike> he wants them to auto update from front ends
5:50 pm:<LS_Bill> then later, when NT gives us the feedback you won't have to change anything
5:51 pm:<LS_Bill> the values will come in automatically.
5:51 pm:<Mike> Dan I have every bar a getposinfo that gets updated stop target from front end
5:51 pm:<Daniel> if I type stop/ target/ Entry into a TPO ref line field it's all set to go
5:51 pm:<Daniel> exactly
5:52 pm:<LS_Bill> yes, seems the right way to go
5:52 pm:<Daniel> oh..so wait a second...
5:52 pm:<LS_Bill> have to head out myself
5:53 pm:<Daniel> right now NT5 only gives state and pos size to IRT?
