4:27 pm:<LS_Chad> Good Afternoon guys...
4:28 pm:<LS_Chad> Still hard at work on 8.5.5...hoping to get that out
tomorrow
4:28 pm:*** Arno has joined us
4:28 pm:<LS_Chad> Anyone have any questions?
4:29 pm:*** LS_Bill has joined us
4:29 pm:*** fcat has joined us
4:30 pm:<rick> Hi... Thanks for all the help you LS guys have given me
over the past few days! I appreciate it!
4:30 pm:<Arno> Bill - I tried out what you sent with the irqprefs.txt
file...
4:30 pm:<fcat> hi all
4:30 pm:<Arno> app responds faster at the user interface level....
4:31 pm:<LS_Bill> how about the buffer full counts?
4:31 pm:<Arno> but lagging DTN quotes still persist... so I'm stripping
away as much as I can
4:31 pm:<Arno> to sse what could be causing it
4:32 pm:<fcat> what is the max setting again Bill for the iqprefs buffer
?
4:32 pm:<Arno> right now the buffer entry doesn't show up in status...
4:32 pm:*** Christine has joined us
4:32 pm:<LS_Bill> that means it's zero
4:33 pm:<LS_Bill> that's good!
4:33 pm:<fcat> I'm at 4096
4:33 pm:<Arno> I'll keep working with it and let you know what I find.
4:33 pm:<fcat> for buffer size...not full count.....lol
4:34 pm:<Arno> I'm in the midst of switching to IB so maybe that will
help out....
4:34 pm:<fcat> are you running a L2 window arno ?
4:35 pm:<Arno> no
4:35 pm:<fcat> ok
4:36 pm:<fcat> only time I see a lag anymore is if I have two L2 windows
open combined with huge volume
4:37 pm:<fcat> max buffer size is 10240...is taht right Bill ?
4:37 pm:<LS_Chad> No problem Rick....how are things going with I/RT?
4:38 pm:<LS_Bill> I don't recall off the top of my head, it varies from
feed to feed, you talking about DTN IQ ?
4:38 pm:<Arno> yes
4:38 pm:<fcat> yes
4:38 pm:<fcat> iqfeed legacy
4:39 pm:<LS_Bill> 512K
4:39 pm:<fcat> ok
4:39 pm:<LS_Bill> half a meg
4:39 pm:<fcat> thought it was more
4:40 pm:<fcat> wait..isn't 512k the default?
4:40 pm:<rick> Things are going very good for me and I/RT. Today was my
first live day for I/RT to IB.
4:40 pm:<LS_Bill> it's the same for the new IQFEED windows client
4:41 pm:<LS_Bill> the buffer size is not user adjustable
4:41 pm:<fcat> ok
4:42 pm:<rick> There are a few things that have come up but for the most
part I think that I/RT is very cool, Chad.
4:46 pm:<LS_Chad> I've tightened a number of things up with relation to
MP & footprint charts for next release, fyi
4:47 pm:<LS_Chad> for 8.5.5
4:48 pm:<Christine> hi everyone....quick question....
4:48 pm:<Christine> is there a way to setup 2 session times for an
instrument that has a gap between the 2 sessions and have the chart skip
the gap?
4:49 pm:<LS_Bill> no way to do that
4:49 pm:<LS_Bill> each instrument has one session setup
4:49 pm:<Christine> ok, thanks
4:49 pm:<LS_Bill> and each session is defined as a continuous period of
time
4:50 pm:<LS_Chad> tick-based periodicities will take the gap out
4:50 pm:<Christine> was just trying for the grains
4:50 pm:<LS_Chad> tickbars, range bars, volume bars, etc
4:50 pm:<LS_Bill> some asian markets take a one hour break mid day I've
been told
4:50 pm:<Christine> yes....that would work
4:50 pm:<LS_Bill> but IRT just cannot handle a session with a "hole" in
it
4:51 pm:<Christine> lol....i'll just stick to pit traded hours for the
grains
4:51 pm:<LS_Bill> you could setup two sessions, one to cover the early
part of the trading, the other to handle to later part
4:51 pm:<Christine> yes...
4:51 pm:<LS_Bill> and have two charts looking at these sessions
4:51 pm:<LS_Bill> but no way to do it inside one chart
4:51 pm:<Christine> ok
4:51 pm:<Christine> having a lot of trouble finding commodity symbols
from dtn
4:51 pm:<fcat> couldn't you use the same charts and toggle the session
with a chart button ?
4:51 pm:<Christine> they don't have ecbot listed
4:52 pm:<Christine> yes...fcat...but looking at longer term, i like to
see the 2 sessions together, but that's ok
4:52 pm:<fcat> wouldn't the chart sisplay sting together?
4:52 pm:<fcat> *display
4:53 pm:<fcat> *string
4:53 pm:<Christine> yes...but with the gaps
4:53 pm:<Christine> and that messes up the indicators
4:54 pm:<Christine> have to run early today....thanks guys.... :))
4:54 pm:<Mike> hi all oh meeting i forgot today he he
4:54 pm:<Mike> chad here?
4:54 pm:*** Christine has left
4:54 pm:<LS_Bill> he's here, busy coding ;-)
4:55 pm:<Mike> ok I did nto read TASC article yes but wondered about
that RSI relative spread others made
4:55 pm:<Mike> seems it is RS on a MA so m ight be easy in IRT
4:55 pm:<Mike> but if easy I'd thought he would have submitted article
and chart
4:55 pm:<Mike> I see wealth lab ran backtest with good results it
appears
4:57 pm:<fcat> Bill...quick question...how taxing is presentation mode
on IRT compared to leaving it off ?
4:57 pm:<LS_Chad> I don't recall if I wrote an article or not on that
Mike...if we're not in there..I guess not
4:57 pm:<LS_Chad> been pretty busy lately
4:58 pm:<fcat> tks for the CC help btw chad
4:58 pm:<fcat> works perfectly
4:58 pm:<LS_Chad> sure...you get that to import?
4:58 pm:<LS_Chad> ok..good
4:58 pm:<fcat> no
4:58 pm:<fcat> lol
4:59 pm:<fcat> never did get the qp to import
4:59 pm:<Mike> might be easy can submit for next issue i thi nk
4:59 pm:<fcat> only the indicator
4:59 pm:<fcat> but got it figured out from the ci
4:59 pm:<Mike> fcat it is taxing how much nto sure
4:59 pm:<fcat> tks mike
4:59 pm:<Mike> try viewing the windows tas k manager
5 pm:<Mike> I see no need to have it on for live trading really
5 pm:<fcat> figured it must draw a little cpu reasource
5 pm:<Mike> chad might know
5 pm:<LS_Bill> fcat, the pres mode draws the candles several times with
differing color shadings to achieve that look
5:01 pm:<Mike> chad youmigh tbe able to do rtl for that indicator in
minutes let me know if you do
5:01 pm:<fcat> ok
5:01 pm:<LS_Bill> it will use more CPU of course, but I don't think we
have every quantified how much
5:01 pm:<fcat> tks bill
5:01 pm:<rick> Oh, thats how you guys do that;-)
5:02 pm:<fcat> sure makes for purty shaded bars tho ;-)
5:02 pm:<rick> Nice look!
5:02 pm:<LS_Bill> I once got an email from a new user asking how to get
rid of the ugly shaded candles ;-)
5:03 pm:<fcat> lol
5:03 pm:<LS_Bill> I told him in reply how proud we were of those ugly
candles
5:03 pm:<rick> fcat: maybe your file had some odd chars in there that
messed up your import. I've had the same problems when cutting examples
from web pages.
5:03 pm:<fcat> maybe
5:03 pm:<LS_Bill> objectTypePtr
5:04 pm:<LS_Bill> sorry wrong window
5:04 pm:<fcat> tried cutting out just the qp also but no go
5:05 pm:<fcat> tried two different browsers, different file types etc.
5:05 pm:<fcat> no dice
5:05 pm:<fcat> wierd
5:05 pm:<LS_Chad> some older exports don't work quite right on newer
version
5:05 pm:<LS_Bill> sometimes, emailing a def file results in extra
"lines" being manufactured from the long lines of text in such a file
5:05 pm:<LS_Bill> when this happens IRT cannot import the def
5:06 pm:<LS_Bill> some email programs break the text into multiple lines
5:06 pm:<fcat> rick got it to come in ok
5:06 pm:<fcat> on a mac tho
5:06 pm:<rick> I think my issues were cr, cr lf and other odd stuff from
nix, windoz, mac cross...
5:06 pm:<LS_Bill> if you send the def as a zip file, email programs will
not mess with it
5:07 pm:<fcat> everything works better on a mac ;-)
5:07 pm:<rick> 8-0
5:07 pm:<Mike> Bill no email or new release from Jerry at all
5:07 pm:<Mike> i try again
5:07 pm:<Mike> seems AT is dead deal sad to say
5:08 pm:<Mike> and only IB front end for macs :(
5:09 pm:<fcat> is there a way to remove the cc calculations from the
main toolbar?
5:09 pm:<LS_Bill> I will ask Jerry what his plans are
5:09 pm:<LS_Bill> we are not seeing alot of AT subscribers frankly
5:09 pm:<fcat> bummer on AT if that turns out to be true
5:09 pm:<Mike> yes Fcat we see
5:10 pm:<LS_Bill> seeing some interest in NinjaTrader on Windows side
5:10 pm:<fcat> I bet
5:10 pm:<Mike> AT will nto ti me out limit orders send from IRT and that
major issue for me
5:10 pm:<Mike> can't have o pen l imit orders sittign around all day!
5:10 pm:<fcat> no
5:10 pm:<Mike> right ninja on PC only and costs monthly fee
5:11 pm:<Mike> anyways Jerry might have fixed problem or s aid he would
in email months ago
5:11 pm:<Mike> good chat thanks
5:11 pm:<Mike> fcat you are on windows i see :)
5:11 pm:<fcat> yes...still
5:11 pm:<Mike> ok
5:12 pm:<fcat> would like to switch
5:12 pm:<fcat> any irt users on mac pro?
5:13 pm:<LS_Bill> don't know, I'm going to get one before my Apple
developer's discount runs out ;-)
5:14 pm:<fcat> good move
5:14 pm:<fcat> lol
5:14 pm:<LS_Bill> amazing machines. quad core duo processors, up to 3 gh,
runs windows and os X at the same time
5:15 pm:<Mike> will irt use all 4 cpus?
5:15 pm:<Mike> should as you compile in Xcode now
5:15 pm:<LS_Bill> IRT can use two at a time, maybe three for some minor
background tasks
5:15 pm:<LS_Bill> like checking for new versions and such
5:15 pm:<fcat> Bill...is there a way to remove custom column calculation
from main toolbar display area ?
5:15 pm:<fcat> cool Bill
5:15 pm:<LS_Bill> what do you mean fcat?
5:16 pm:<fcat> the main toolbardisplay area, ie where the chart
highliter info displays etc.
5:17 pm:<fcat> time, price, etc.
5:17 pm:<LS_Bill> what do you mean by "remove custom column calculation"
5:18 pm:<fcat> it seem some of my custom column calculations display in
that area continuously
5:18 pm:<LS_Bill> what are you seeing there?
5:19 pm:<fcat> AAPL==0
5:19 pm:<fcat> GOOG ==0
5:19 pm:<fcat> that kinda stuff
5:19 pm:<fcat> continuously.....all day
5:20 pm:<LS_Bill> hmmm, don't know where those are coming from
5:20 pm:<fcat> lol
5:20 pm:<LS_Chad> you must have your CC rules setup with "logging" on
5:20 pm:<LS_Chad> in the rules tab
5:20 pm:<fcat> me neither
5:20 pm:<fcat> ahh
5:20 pm:<LS_Chad> it's logging those rules to the alert log
5:21 pm:<fcat> think you are right chad
5:21 pm:<fcat> logging set to on is the default right ?
5:22 pm:<LS_Chad> just added option to T&S window to all all
bid/ask/size changes through (instead of just trades)
5:25 pm:<rick> Any idea how I end up with things like $TrendFollowing as
a Ticker Symbol?
5:25 pm:<LS_Bill> is that the name of trading system you have?
5:26 pm:<rick> Yes ;-)
5:26 pm:<LS_Bill> that symbol is created during the backtesting process
to keep track of trading notes for each trade that takes place during
the backtest.
5:27 pm:<LS_Bill> the ticker symbol is $ followed by the name of the
trading system
5:27 pm:<fcat> set logging to no in cc rules field chad
5:27 pm:<fcat> it was on for all rules
5:27 pm:<LS_Bill> you can delete these if you wish. they will be
re-created if needed later.
5:28 pm:<rick> Ok Bill, I'm following you...
5:28 pm:<rick> Is that bad housekeeping on my part or yours? I mean I/RT...
5:30 pm:<LS_Bill> well, sometimes, the user wants to view a chart
showing how the backtest performed
5:30 pm:<LS_Bill> that's why we leave the symbol around. it must be
there to show you the backtest chart
5:31 pm:<rick> Oh, Ok, I get it...
5:33 pm:<rick> Any Idea why the chat mode in I/RT con't connect to the
chat chan?
5:33 pm:<rick> s/con't/can't
5:33 pm:<fcat> I sometimes have that prob rick
5:33 pm:<fcat> had it tonight...
5:33 pm:<fcat> restarted
5:33 pm:<fcat> then it was fine
5:34 pm:<fcat> restarted irt that is
5:34 pm:<rick> I have never had it connect. And always have this simple
chat tool work...
5:34 pm:<rick> Is it a time out thing?
5:35 pm:<rick> Not a long enough timer before time out
5:35 pm:<fcat> don't know
5:36 pm:<rick> othernet.org seems dog slow when connecting...
5:37 pm:<fcat> when I don't connect I always get a MOTD file missing
5:37 pm:<fcat> whatever that means
5:37 pm:<rick> message of the day maybe
5:37 pm:<fcat> ahh
5:38 pm:<fcat> scratch that
5:38 pm:<fcat> I get that message when it connects successfully also
5:38 pm:<fcat> my bad
5:41 pm:<LS_Bill> it always take a long time for me to irc connect also
5:41 pm:<LS_Bill> maybe subq knows what's going on, he's a net maven
5:43 pm:<rick> Is it because my nick is not registered?
5:45 pm:<rick> Time for me to get going... Feed the dogs & take a
walk... Its been fun meeting you all;-)
5:45 pm:<rick> And thank you all so very much for all your help!!!
5:46 pm:<fcat> take care rick
5:46 pm:<LS_Bill> nite rick
5:47 pm:<rick> I'll try to drop by again... Bye.
5:47 pm:*** rick has left
5:53 pm:<LS_Bill> have a nice evening everyone
