4:34 pm:--X-- Welcome - Linn Software: Powerful Market Analysis Software for the RealTime Investor for Windows XP and Macintosh OSX. See http://www.Linnsoft.com for complete information, tour, demo, videos, etc... Formal Chat session's are Tuesday's at 4:30 est.
4:38 pm:<subq> just got here
4:38 pm:<subq> been on a conference call sorry
4:38 pm:<LS_Bill> You have not missed anything, quiet room today
4:40 pm:<subq> nice preferences is that going out in a build today
4:40 pm:<subq> those uplaod prefs?
4:41 pm:<LS_Chad> you can already do that
4:41 pm:<LS_Chad> just open up any window...and choose "file: share picture"
4:41 pm:<LS_Chad> http://www.linnsoft.com/dl/win/irt_win_855.exe
4:41 pm:<LS_Chad> 855 is up there...haven't made it official yet....probably will soon
4:41 pm:<LS_Chad> install and let us know if you have any problems
4:41 pm:<subq> new 8.5.5 build i guess..i was on beta remember
4:41 pm:<LS_Chad> yes, was uploaded this afternoon
4:42 pm:<subq> cool, will try out the share prefs
4:42 pm:<subq> Bryan said we should be able to have it all going itno DB over the weekend
4:42 pm:<LS_Bill> great
4:43 pm:<LS_Bill> he said he would add a download button also for the def file
4:43 pm:<Mike> oh hi all
4:43 pm:<subq> yeah
4:43 pm:<Mike> almost forgot meeting
4:43 pm:<subq> had it going to new window....then a download, now it is back to new window but will also add a download button
4:43 pm:<subq> :)
4:43 pm:<Mike> i did a def dl saved text file but good
4:43 pm:<LS_Bill> both ways have their advantages
4:44 pm:<subq> i was kind of wanting to test if on download you chose to open in IRT what it did :)
4:44 pm:<LS_Bill> For 8.5.5 you can setup a function key, e.g. F2 to "Import from Clipboard"
4:44 pm:<subq> if we would have set a custom extension like .def
4:44 pm:<LS_Bill> so just go to charthub and copy the def, and hit F2 and the chart flows into your IRT
4:44 pm:<subq> then you could alwyas associate it to irt.exe
4:45 pm:<LS_Chad> yea....easiest way for me...is to open text file in browser window...do a "select all" and then "copy"...then "import from clipboard" in IRT
4:45 pm:<LS_Chad> takes a few seconds...takes much longer saving the file..then having to locate it in explorer window on import side
4:45 pm:<LS_Bill> extensions other than .txt are problematic inside our XVT toolkit, but possible. I think about it
4:45 pm:<LS_Chad> again, what would be nice...would be a "get chart" button that just copied the def to clipboard...but sounds like that's a tough one for Bryan
4:46 pm:<Mike> chad first sahre i went to share prefs then hit ok but chart did nto sahre fyi
4:46 pm:<Mike> I reshared it then worked of course
4:46 pm:<LS_Bill> that's how it works mike
4:46 pm:<Mike> ok
4:46 pm:<LS_Chad> or a "Copy Chart" button....then we could maybe add a "Paste Chart" button in IRT
4:47 pm:<Mike> will OSX get 855 soon?
4:47 pm:<LS_Bill> first time, you get a message saying you must setup first
4:47 pm:<Mike> and posting and 855 features? eta?
4:47 pm:<LS_Bill> I don't know when I will get to OS X mike to be honest
4:47 pm:<LS_Bill> so the first share picture command elicits a message instead of doing the share
4:47 pm:<Mike> ok well sometime be ok, just not to be forgotten forever :)
4:47 pm:<LS_Bill> I know someone would point that out.
4:48 pm:<Mike> no problem
4:48 pm:<LS_Bill> sorry for your inconvenience mike, having to issue the command again and all
4:48 pm:<Mike> no b ig deal for me at all
4:48 pm:<LS_Bill> then why did you mention it?
4:48 pm:<Mike> fyi is all
4:48 pm:<LS_Bill> I know how it works ;-)
4:48 pm:<Mike> ok
4:48 pm:<LS_Bill> just giving you are hard time mike, I've had a rough day ;-)
4:49 pm:<Mike> ok you working on new feed stuff?
4:49 pm:<Mike> Can we share pref dialogs I saw one?
4:49 pm:<LS_Chad> yea..any window
4:49 pm:<LS_Chad> just click on the window and choose "file: share picture"
4:49 pm:<LS_Chad> prefs, time & sales, etc
4:49 pm:<Mike> Also might be good to share window title area for a few reasons
4:50 pm:<LS_Bill> I know it would be nice
4:50 pm:<LS_Bill> I have not figured out how to do that yet
4:50 pm:<Mike> ok be nice
4:50 pm:<LS_Bill> the method I use only works with the client area of the window mike
4:50 pm:<LS_Bill> that's why it works like it does
4:50 pm:*** fcat has joined us
4:50 pm:<Mike> Chad Chart prefs dialog do not share to me?
4:51 pm:<LS_Chad> works everytime here
4:51 pm:<Mike> ok guess so
4:51 pm:<LS_Chad> open the prefs window...then choose "file: share picture"...what pref window?
4:51 pm:<Mike> I right clicked my mistake great
4:51 pm:<Mike> that be great of rusers and for helpign customers
4:52 pm:<LS_Chad> yea, no right-click menus on many windows....have to use file menu
4:52 pm:<LS_Chad> or keyboard shortcut
4:52 pm:<Mike> yes great excellent
4:52 pm:<LS_Bill> yep, there is a keyboard shortcut for Share Picture
4:52 pm:<Mike> works great
4:52 pm:<Mike> would have helped us all over years :)
4:53 pm:<Mike> Questions Anyone??? comments???
4:53 pm:<Mike> Fish look new here? all ok??
4:53 pm:<Mike> fcat is on 853 i see
4:54 pm:<LS_Bill> 855 is not released officially yet
4:55 pm:<Mike> ok
4:55 pm:<LS_Bill> we had several version 855 releases over the last week or so
4:55 pm:<subq> have to scroll back had another fphone call heh
4:55 pm:<LS_Bill> today is final (we hope)
4:56 pm:<subq> btw that to clipboard stuff is possible
4:56 pm:<subq> we will probably just have to write some java script to do it
4:56 pm:<subq> so it will have to be on the "to do" list
4:56 pm:<Mike> i sent in username and a comment Sub fyi
4:57 pm:<LS_Bill> those do not yet appear on the web site Mike, maybe soon
4:57 pm:<LS_Bill> they are transmitted
4:57 pm:<subq> so we can screen shot preferences now too?
4:57 pm:<subq> cool
4:57 pm:<Mike> to correct pane hieghts being reset Bill I do a save chart, then save layout? should correct that i believe?
4:57 pm:<LS_Chad> that would be great
4:57 pm:<LS_Bill> yes Mike
4:58 pm:<Mike> Bill/Chad I trying to do that NYSE VOL accum symbol and It seems to p lot ok but plotting the bid ask seperately seems to be a no go, i using custom price aspect shoudl work I 'd think
4:59 pm:<Mike> just shared pict of it
4:59 pm:<Mike> i can send or meial chart def if needed. it is for ib feed
5 pm:<LS_Bill> when you share mike, the URL of the picture is put on your clipboard automatically
5 pm:<LS_Bill> so you can paste it into chat instantly
5 pm:<LS_Chad> http://www.charthub.com/images/2006/10/10/VOLNYSE.png
5 pm:<Mike> well tha tis on pc, chat is laptop mac
5 pm:<Mike> he he
5 pm:<LS_Bill> ah
5 pm:<LS_Chad> share the def mike
5:01 pm:<Mike> oh i fixed it I had cust indicator adn then custom price of that
5:03 pm:<Mike> http://www.charthub.com/images/2006/10/10/VOLNYSE_2.png
5:05 pm:<subq> let me grab the new release
5:06 pm:<Mike> ok fixed annotations
5:06 pm:<Mike> now jstu need to see if it is correct
5:07 pm:<subq> so the SOURCE= on the definition will always be the regd name?
5:08 pm:<Mike> Bill Adv DECV does not match so nto sure if IB is off or the calc or what?
5:10 pm:<LS_Bill> the definition has always used the registered users name as the source
5:10 pm:<LS_Chad> Yea...I guess that could change maybe to use the "nickname"
5:10 pm:<subq> ok
5:10 pm:<LS_Bill> I was thinking of changing that to use the sharing preferences nickname
5:10 pm:<subq> users may want it to
5:10 pm:<LS_Bill> yes, I agree
5:10 pm:<subq> they may not want their real name up there
5:10 pm:<LS_Bill> right
5:10 pm:<LS_Chad> could possibly also start putting a line or two at the top....telling user how to import
5:11 pm:<LS_Bill> thats a good idea
5:11 pm:<LS_Bill> the web page could do that
5:11 pm:<LS_Bill> Bryan told me he was going to show the def pre-selected
5:11 pm:<LS_Bill> so all the user would have to do is right-click and do Copy
5:12 pm:<LS_Bill> then hit F2 or whatever to import the def
5:12 pm:<subq> btw how do you share preference windows?
5:12 pm:<LS_Bill> File: Share Picture
5:12 pm:<LS_Chad> open it, do file: share picture
5:12 pm:<LS_Bill> operates on the front window
5:12 pm:<subq> ah ok
5:13 pm:<LS_Bill> anyway, if the def text will be selected, you could add instructional text at the top of the web page on how to use the def
5:13 pm:<LS_Bill> since that text would not be selected
5:13 pm:<subq> yeah i will have to ask bryan on that, he could probably make it preselected
5:13 pm:<subq> i think eventually we would just leave it unseclted though and add soem javascript and a link that says copy to clipboard
5:14 pm:<LS_Bill> that might be better than having IRT put instructional comments inside every def file
5:14 pm:<subq> probably have 3 little links, Download Definition, Open in New Window, Copy to Clipboard
5:14 pm:<Mike> neat is it is not dl'ing files
5:14 pm:<Mike> copy paste saves dl time and issues
5:15 pm:<LS_Bill> something I've been wanting to do is to have the I/RT chat software recognize charthub URLS inside the user's chat window
5:15 pm:<subq> and pop them up :)
5:15 pm:<LS_Bill> so you could right-click on a URL and IRT would take you to that image
5:16 pm:<LS_Bill> I found a way to do that
5:16 pm:<Mike> yes some irc clients are clickable links Bill
5:16 pm:<subq> xchat irc client does that and i think they are open source
5:16 pm:<LS_Bill> so look for that in future release
5:16 pm:<subq> mirc is closed source
5:16 pm:<Mike> great Bill
5:17 pm:<LS_Bill> we are a bit constrained by the xvt toolkit we use for the chat text window
5:18 pm:<LS_Bill> I was thinking of adding a "charthub" icon to the I/RT chat window at the right, next to the "preferences" icon
5:18 pm:<Mike> i'm a bit surprised to NOT see more traditional IRT charts on hub site
5:18 pm:<Mike> see many TPO VP charts.
5:19 pm:<LS_Chad> those two have become very popular
5:19 pm:<LS_Bill> so you could click on a line in the chat window, and click Charthub to take you to the image on that line
5:20 pm:<LS_Bill> or there was no selection, IRT could look for charthub URLS and go to the most recently shown URL inside the window
5:20 pm:<Mike> click url should open it on brouser Bill as most irc clients do
5:20 pm:<LS_Bill> right, that's exactly what I am saying
5:20 pm:<Mike> yeah
5:21 pm:<LS_Bill> when someone puts a link inside the chat window, all you would do is click the charthub button and your browser would show that image
5:21 pm:<LS_Bill> I/RT would essentially start at the bottom of the window and start looking upward from there for a http://www... linkage and go there
5:22 pm:<subq> btw dropping my historical tick to 7 days made things much quicker
5:22 pm:<Mike> ok best if no button though just make url a link if possible
5:22 pm:<subq> when you do full maintenence will it always trim it to 7 days?
5:22 pm:<subq> like if i download 30 days for a volume profile chart
5:22 pm:<LS_Bill> That cannot be done with our text toolkit mike
5:23 pm:<LS_Bill> these is not html markup text capability inside our text window
5:23 pm:<LS_Bill> so we do the best we can, add a button, let user id the link or let IRT find the link from the text automatically
5:23 pm:<LS_Bill> when user clicks the button
5:23 pm:<Mike> ok
5:24 pm:<Mike> maybe Sub can get you code for that url ability
5:24 pm:<subq> im a network engineer not a programmer :)
5:24 pm:<subq> Bryan is the programmer
5:25 pm:<subq> i can code myself out of a wet paperbag though
5:25 pm:<subq> ;)
5:25 pm:<subq> just not a dry one
5:26 pm:*** Rick has joined us
5:27 pm:<LS_Bill> subq, I think I can handle the code
5:27 pm:<LS_Bill> subq, the full maintenance does not perform a purge of historical data
5:27 pm:<LS_Bill> the purge of data beyond your retention settings is done during the post history process
5:27 pm:<subq> what would be standard method to purge down to settings in historical
5:27 pm:<subq> oh ok
5:27 pm:<LS_Bill> that occurs at end of session
5:27 pm:<subq> dring post, nm
5:27 pm:<subq> cool
5:28 pm:<subq> is there a reason to do full maintenence regularly?
5:28 pm:<Rick> Hi guys ;-)
5:28 pm:<LS_Bill> so if you have 7 days of tick, yet you did some work during the day that grabbed 30 days, all but the last 7 days would be purged after the close
5:29 pm:<LS_Bill> it keeps the databasse compact for one thing
5:29 pm:<LS_Bill> Once a week or once a month should be fine
5:29 pm:<LS_Bill> you don't HAVE to do it at all
5:29 pm:<subq> think i will change to once a week then
5:30 pm:<subq> been doing it every day
5:30 pm:<subq> i always run into this failed init bug when i do ninja uprades
5:30 pm:<LS_Chad> Hey Rick....if you have a question, fire away
5:30 pm:<LS_Bill> I contacted NT about it
5:30 pm:<subq> i think because i have either irt or ninja running when i install one or the other
5:30 pm:<LS_Bill> they are fixing it for NT 6
5:31 pm:<LS_Bill> do you use NT with IRT subq?
5:31 pm:<subq> what order does it have to be done in?
5:31 pm:<subq> not tied together no
5:31 pm:<LS_Bill> if you are not calling NT from IRT
5:31 pm:<subq> i am getting failed to initialize ntdirect
5:32 pm:<Rick> Hi Chad!!! Any chance that the Screen feature will be enhanced? to do more than price???
5:32 pm:<LS_Bill> then put a file inside your admin folder name it "noninjagrader.txt"
5:32 pm:<LS_Bill> if IRT sees this file in admin at startup, it ignores NT's existence
5:32 pm:<subq> what is the proper order to fix that bug for integration?
5:32 pm:<LS_Bill> if you ever get to where you want IRT to submit trading orders to NT, just remove the file and IRT will talk to NT again
5:32 pm:<subq> install ninja then irt or irt then ninja or what?
5:33 pm:<LS_Bill> if you put that file in admin you won't have any integration issues any more
5:33 pm:<LS_Bill> noninjatrader.txt
5:35 pm:<LS_Bill> IRT looks for ninjatrader's DLL at startup, if it finds noninjatrader.txt file in admin, it does not try to use the DLL at all
5:35 pm:<LS_Bill> IRT operates as if NinjaTrader is not even installed.
5:35 pm:<Mike> any news from AutotradeR?
5:36 pm:<LS_Bill> I have no heard anything from Jerry in a long time
5:36 pm:<Mike> me to very concerned there
5:36 pm:<Rick> Chad, If you are using the yahoo finance stock screener then why not add more of their choices?
5:37 pm:<Mike> i found another great screen searching site f wi w
5:37 pm:<LS_Chad> just a matter of time Rick
5:37 pm:<Mike> msn site money cental is great search on dividends etyc...
5:37 pm:<Mike> great chat thanks
5:38 pm:<LS_Chad> actually...average volume was the primary option (in addition to price) that I additionally added
5:38 pm:<LS_Chad> then a few weeks later, they removed that ....sigh
5:38 pm:<LS_Chad> so seemed a moving target right from the start
5:38 pm:<LS_Chad> I'll get back on that one day soon
5:40 pm:<Rick> Ok Chad, just ran across it the other day and thought it would be gread to use then couldn't ;-(
5:40 pm:<LS_Chad> I could probably add some of the other things you see on this page though
5:40 pm:<LS_Chad> http://screen.finance.yahoo.com/stocks.html
5:40 pm:<LS_Chad> no idea why they removed avg volume from that page
5:41 pm:<LS_Chad> was a good method of making sure you were getting liquid symbols
5:41 pm:<LS_Chad> could even add industry I guess
5:41 pm:<LS_Bill> it seems to have more of a fundamental data screen flavor
5:41 pm:<LS_Bill> industry would a great addition
5:42 pm:<LS_Bill> index membership is another
5:42 pm:<Rick> I'll take anything from that page that you will give me...
5:42 pm:<LS_Chad> ok...I'll put that on the list....
5:42 pm:<LS_Chad> send me an email from time to time reminding me
5:42 pm:<Rick> I have been playing with their Java app a bit and have found a few good picks from it...
5:43 pm:<LS_Chad> yea, I can only access what is available on that html page...as far as I know
5:43 pm:<LS_Chad> gotta run guys...any last questions?
5:44 pm:<LS_Chad> good night
5:44 pm:<Rick> Thats cool ;-) Can't ask for much more than that!!!
5:44 pm:<LS_Chad> I'll try to get to it before next release....
5:44 pm:<LS_Chad> 8.5.6
5:44 pm:<fcat> cya chad
5:44 pm:<fcat> tks
5:44 pm:<Rick> Bye, thanks!!!
5:44 pm:*** MPTRADING has left
5:48 pm:*** MPTRADING has joined us
5:48 pm:<Rick> Anyway to get a button to just run a script? Or several to run several different scripts? Err signal?
5:50 pm:<Rick> Don't want to play a sound...
5:51 pm:<LS_Bill> are you talking about chart buttons, Rick?
5:51 pm:<Rick> Yes Bill.
5:51 pm:<LS_Bill> chart buttons can run "Schedules" which are essentially I/RT scripts
5:52 pm:<LS_Bill> a series of actions make up a schedule
5:52 pm:<LS_Bill> we call them schedules since you can schedule them to run on some periodic interval
5:52 pm:<LS_Bill> or you can just setup them up to run when you click a chart button
5:52 pm:<LS_Bill> or both
5:53 pm:<Rick> Oh, Ok... I'll try it that way;-) Thank you!
5:53 pm:<Rick> I just though that a schedule was for timed/queued events...
5:54 pm:<Rick> Point of view is worth 80 IQ ;-)
5:55 pm:<Rick> 30 years of computering baggage I guess ;-)
5:56 pm:<Rick> I'm out of here;-) Thanks again for all your help!!! You guys are great;-)
5:56 pm:<LS_Bill> yes, I have a few years of baggage myself ;-)
5:57 pm:<LS_Bill> orignally, schedules were timed/queued events
5:57 pm:<LS_Bill> then, buttons were invented and someone had the bright idea of having a button kick of a schedule manually.
5:59 pm:<Rick> Time for a little refactoring maybe;-)
5:59 pm:<Rick> And time for me to run... Bye...
6 pm:*** Rick has left
6 pm:<LS_Bill> Time for me to sign off also, any final questions of me?
6:01 pm:<LS_Bill> hearing none, goodnight everyone, have a nice evening.
6:01 pm:*** LS_Bill has left
6:17 pm:*** fcat has left
