  • Chart Buttons for Adding/Removing Instrument
A chart button with purpose "Change the Instrument" has a secondary purpose of adding an instrument to a chart instead of replacing (substituting) the existing one. This is accomplished by prefixing the ticker symbol in the button setup with a plus sign. A setup such as +TRIN adds the instrument TRIN to the chart in a new pane leaving the existing instrument in the chart. The behavior of this additive feature has been revised to remove the specified symbol if it already is present in the chart. Thus a button with setup +TRIN will show the TRIN on the first click and remove the TRIN graph on the next click. The behavior is now similar with the "Add/Remove Indicator" button purpose.

  • NinjaTrader Trading Order Enhancements
Incremental improvements to Investor/RT-NinjaTrader interoperation continue to be made. See item #21 of the Version 8.3 What's New for details of 8.3 released improvements in this area. The latest improvements have to do with submitting Change Order commands to NinjaTrader. These trading order setups now allow an order quantity of zero, which NinjaTrader interprets as "no change" to the quantity of the order being revised. Most trading orders submitted to NinjaTrader are now followed within a few seconds with an automatic check of market position and order status. These checks record messages to the Message Log showing the status of every order and the position status of the instrument that was the subject of the submitted trading order. If NinjaTrader responds with a position size for some symbol, Investor/RT will records the TR_FILL and TR_POS tokens with the returned values. These values can be displayed in chart annotations, or in a quotepage. The user may also elect to send "Get Order Status", "Get Market Position", and "Get Strategy Position" trading orders to NinjaTrader using any of the techniques available for executing (sending) trading orders.

  • Screenshots of Investor/RT Windows
The Windows edition of Investor/RT has an improved screenshot feature that can now be used to capture a bitmap (bmp) image of any Investor/RT window. Make the desired window the front window by activating it, then choose File: Save: As Picture. For chart windows, you can right-click inside the chart and choose Save: As Picture. The improved image capture is no longer limited to chart windows; any open window may now be captured as image. Macintosh OS X users have window capture facilities as part of the Mac OS. Press Apple+Shift+4 to activate the Mac's built-in screen capture facility. Then tap the spacebar to activate the "capture window" mode and click inside the window you wish to snapshot. The Macintosh captures the image as a PNG (Portable Network Graphic) file, a compressed format. At present the Windows capture feature in Investor/RT creates uncompressed bitmap (BMP) files. Work is underway to improve Investor/RT to save images in PNG format also.

  • Miscellaneous Fixes and Improvements for 8.4.0
When modifying the exchange or session setup for an instrument in the Setup: Instruments window, changes to display format were being discarded. In some circumstances, other checkboxes modified before changing the session or exchange were reverted to their original settings. These defects have been corrected.
    -----------------------------------------
When choosing a scan to open from a menu or list, Investor/RT shows all scans plus all signals that are marked as dual-purpose. If you choose a signal, Investor/RT will now open the signal and setup the window as if the signal were a scan. Similarly when choosing a signal to open, if you choose a dual-purpose scan name, the resulting setup window will show the scan formula as a signal.

  • Miscellaneous Fixes and Improvements for 8.4.1
Recent improvement of the recalculation efficiency of the Volume Breakdown indicator had an unintended side effect, a fatal error if any of the Jurik Indicator plugins were used inside a custom indicator or signal. The defect is corrected in 8.4.1. The four Jurik plugin indicators, JMA, DMX, RSX, and VEL where updated and now show a revision date of July 2006.
    -----------------------------------------
In the Rules tab of custom column setup, clicking in a signal action or schedule cell to specify the named action or schedule was ineffective if the selected action or schedule happened to be the last name in the presented list of choices. This has been corrected.
    -----------------------------------------
Chart buttons for setting a user variable and optionally executing a trading order now accept TR_STOP and TR_TARG. The button setup "V#23 comment[myTradeOrder]" will prompt the user to click the mouse to set V#23 (showing comment) and then execute trading order myTradeOrder after V#23 has been set to the selected price. Similarly the setup "TR_STOP[myTradeOrder]" sets the token TR_STOP to the selected price and executes the trading order myTradeOrder.
