Question

How do I create a button on a chart (or a keyboard shortcut) that will open a specific chart, quotepage, or layout?

Answer

First, create a Schedule (Setup: Schedules).  Let's assume in this specific example that we want to open up both a chart and a quotepage.  Your schedule should contain two Actions.  The first action will be "Open a Chart" with your specific chart selected in the list.   The second will be "Open a Quotepage" with your specific quotepage selected.

Now, we can setup this schedule to be activated with either a keyboard shortcut (function key) or a button in a chart.  To setup the schedule for activation from a keyboard shortcut, open the schedule preferences by double-clicking on the schedule name in the list on the left of the schedules window.  At the bottom of this window is a groupbox labeled "Shortcut Key".  Select a function key such as F2 which you'd like to use.  Now, whenever the F2 key is pressed, the selected chart and quotepage will appear.

To create a button in a chart which will run this schedule (and thus open the chart and quotepage), open any chart, and add the Button Indicator (for more information on adding indicators to charts, click here).  The Button indicator should be setup with Purpose of "Run a Schedule" and with the proper schedule filled into the box below.  For convenience, you can simply clear out that box, and then select the proper schedule name from the list of schedules j just above that box.  This action will fill in the name for you automatically.  Now click "OK" to add the button to your chart.  Each time you click on the button, the chart and quotepage should appear.
