Question |
Is it possible to copy and paste a Button indicator from
one chart to another? |

|
Answer |
Buttons do not lend themselves to the drag and drop
feature that can be used to copy indicators easily from one chart to
another. This is because clicking on a button does not "select" the
button like a click on an indicator. For menu buttons, a click will
popup a menu, while a click of a non-menu button will execute the
buttons purpose.
To address the need to quickly copy a button from one chart to another
our next release will feature a button copy/paste facility. When you
"right-click" on a button, a new menu item "Copy this Button" will be
present in the popup menu. When you choose "Copy...", the button's setup
will be noted by IRT. You can then go to another chart window,
right-click in a pane and choose "Add Button". "Add Button" is one of
the existing choices in the chart popup menu. Normally, the Add Button
command is used to add a new technical indicator preset button to a
chart. First you pick the indicator by clicking on it to select it, then
you choose Add Button, to make a button for toggling that indicator
on/off in the chart.
The enhanced Add Button will work a little differently. If NO indicator
is selected in the subject chart, IRT will determine if there is a
button setup that has been copied earlier, and if so, it will add a copy
of that button to the chart. When no indicator is selected and no button
has been copied, IRT will prompt you with a selection list of indicators
in the chart as it did before. This enhancement will make it easy to
copy/paste individual buttons from one chart into other chart(s)
quickly. You can even use this new facility to move buttons from one
pane to another in a chart. First you copy the button, then delete it
from its original pane location (right-click on it and choose
Delete...), then right-click in a different pane and choose Add Button
to add it there. |
