Question

I am trying to display a TSE (Toronto) stock symbol in a quote page. myTrack symbol lookup tells me the symbol is WTN, but when I add that symbol, my quotepage shows an unrelated U.S. stock. How do I track Western Canadian Coal using Investor/RT?

Answer

Western Canadian Coal Corp. is indeed listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (Symbol “WTN”). To avoid conflicting ticker symbols between U.S. and Canadian listed stocks, myTrack uses an exchange suffix for the Canadians. In this example, you would use WTN (the actual Canadian symbol) followed by a hyphen and the letter T (for the Toronto exchange), i.e. WTN-T will give you the quote you want. When in doubt about which of the Canadian exchange codes to use, experiment. Use -T for Toronto, -A for Alberta, -V for Vancouver, etc
