Investor/RT Tour Delete / Rename Button Prior to Investor/RT 4.7, the "Delete" command was hidden several menu layers down in the Control Menu. Most new users of Investor/RT were hard pressed to find out how to delete charts, quote pages, and the like. To make deleting things easier and more obvious, a delete/rename button in the form of a green trash can icon has been added to the main toolbar. The action taken when this button is clicked depends on which window is in front at the time. If a chart, quote page, portfolio, quick quote, scan, custom indicator, trading signal, or trading system window is in front, Investor/RT will open up a window, and give you a few options.
The deletion is not undoable so read the prompt before clicking "Delete" in the prompting dialog box. If some other window is open, Investor/RT will open the general-purpose "Delete/Rename" window, the same window you get if you use the Control Menu to access the delete function. If you want to delete something and do not wish to be bothered by the prompting message, click the main toolbar trashcan while holding down the shift key (option key on Macintosh). The one exception to this is a portfolio window; Investor/RT will always prompt for confirmation when deleting portfolios. If you hold down the ctrl-key while clicking the main toolbar trash can icon, Investor/RT will immediately bring up the general purpose Delete/Rename window rather than prompting you about deleting the front-most window. The general purpose Delete/Rename window allows you to delete or rename one or more objects of some type. First select the type (e.g. chart, quote page, etc.) and Investor/RT will show a list of the saved objects of that type. Select individual objects or a range of consecutive objects by clicking and shift-clicking to expand the select (or press the Select All button to select all objects in the list. Then press Delete button or the Rename button to individually delete or rename each object. You will be prompted to confirm each deletion or to supply a new name for each object in turn. The prompting dialog has both a "Skip" button and a "Cancel" button. Cancel will terminate the operation, while Skip will skip the current object and move on to the next selected object in the list. Deleting Custom Columns and Presets
The Delete/Rename window now supports view/renaming/deleting of both custom columns and technical indicator presets. The above list includes all the functions that are available from within the Delete/Rename window. When a custom column is deleted, it will be removed from all quote pages in which it resides, including all open quote pages. To access the Delete Rename window, click the Delete/Rename button (green trash can) on the main toolbar and click the "Rename" button if prompted. The window is also accessible using the Control Menu under the Data Management submenu. |
