Investor/RT tracks and organizes various types of news items transmitted by each of the supported data services. The news ticker object is a live object that shows headlines of arriving news items. The most recently received headline appears at the top of the new ticker window along with the date and time it arrived. Older items are pushed down as new items arrive and eventually disappear from the window. A news ticker may be limited to items in a particular news category or it may show arrivals from all categories. The number of items that may be viewed is limited by the size of the news ticker window

Double-clicking on an item in the news ticker opens up a text window in which the full text of the news item is displayed. The News Ticker object is designed to allow the user to keep an eye on market news in one or more categoriesas news arrives. News items are stored in the Investor/RT database and are often associated with instruments mentioned in the news item.

A news ticker is a "live" window showing the arrival of new text items for any category or for a specific category. You may have as many news ticker windows open as you want. Each news ticker window is associated with a text category, or all categories. New text items appear at the top of the ticker the instant they arrive from the data feed, one line per item. Each item is prefixed with a date/time stamp. Double-click any item to open a full text window if you wish to read the entire text of the news item. There is no toolbar for the news ticker object. News ticker windows are not scrollable although you may expand the size of the window to see more items. The news ticker is a complement to the news browser. The news browser refreshes its list of news items each time the news browser window changes categories. While reading items in a news browser, you will not be interrupted by newly arriving items. The news ticker, on the other hand, lets the user keep an eye on the most recent news items received for a particular category of any category with instant notification of new text items.
