In August 2006, Linn Software entered into an agreement with MarketDelta (www.marketdelta.com), making MarketDelta the exclusive distributor of the Footprint Charts (formerly know as Volume Profile charts in Investor/RT).  MarketDelta software now provides all the functionality of Investor/RT, in addition to providing the Footprint Charts.  For more details on the agreement, visit www.linnsoft.com/md.  The Footprint Chart is what differentiates and separates MarketDelta from Investor/RT, otherwise, you'll find the same functionality, options, and features.  There is no need to subscribe to both programs.

If you have come across an image of an Investor/RT Footprint Chart, it's because Footprint Charts were once available through Investor/RT users, but has not been accessible to new Investor/RT users since 2006.  If you are interested in the Footprint Charting, please contact MarketDelta.  If you're an existing Investor/RT user, and you would like to switch to MarketDelta but retain all your existing work (charts, symbols, etc), please email support@linnsoft.com for instructions on this process.

Many users are interested in the difference between the Volume Breakdown Indicator and the Footprint Charts.  Both are largely built upon the same underlying concept of buying volume (volume traded at the offer) versus selling volume (volume traded at the bid).  The Volume Breakdown Indicator is an indicator which can be added to traditional charts (and is available in both Investor/RT and MarketDelta).  The Footprint Chart is a standalone chart available only through MarketDelta and which gives the user a unique detailed look inside the bars at how volume traded within each price.
