Prop firms have become, in recent years, a very popular way to discover the futures trading world. To assess their subscribers' performance under a very wide range of “Challenges” rules, they typically offer one of the following simulated trading environments:
- Accounts running on Rithmic paper servers
- Accounts running on the Tradovate platform (fed with CQG data)
- Accounts running on the Project X web based platform
For Tradovate evaluations, the prop firm restricts the platform that you can use to a very short list (most of the time, the native Tradovate plaform and Ninjatrader, who acquired Tradovate back in 2022) : you are therefore limited by the native capabilities of these platforms. Regarding Project X, you are also limited to the capabilities of their web based application.
On the other side, Rithmic accounts offer the most interesting and flexible environment as
- the future live data stream can be split among several platforms using the plug in connection mode of the native Rithmic “R Trade Pro” Platform.
- multiple 3rd party trading platforms (such as Investor/RT) can be connected to RTrader Pro and used for analyzing the market and executing orders
Investor/RT is supporting all prop firms offering a Rithmic environment, as long as the prop firm itself is not forcing its subscribers to use a specific third party software (which is generally the case for Rithmic account evaluations). This means you may use Investor/RT to trade your prop firm account (even in the case Investor/RT doesn’t appear in the list of recommended or compatible platforms), ie you can benefit from our advanced features to pass your favourite prop firm challenges.
You can check on this support page the list of prop firms that have setup dedicated Rithmic paper servers, knowing that some prop firms (such as Blusky, EliteTraderFunding, OneUp Trader or TakeProfitTrader) haven’t set up a specific connection point and still rely on the generic “Rithmic Paper Trading” gateways.
Do not hesitate to contact support, would you face any issue connecting Investor/RT to your prop firm accounts
