Understanding Dynamic Profiles and MPB or BOP

Dynamic Profiles allow the price action of the market to dictate the duration of a profile. As price continues to trade within a given range, a profile will continue to build. New profiles are only formed once price moves to new levels relative to recent bars.

Split Sessions for the Volume Profile Indicator

This page discusses the "3 Sessions" and "Split Session" options available as custom duration inputs for the "Time per Profile" settings of the Profile Indicator. It is fully valid both in the case you use the Profile Indicator to display a "Volume Profile" or simulate a TPO chart (by using the "Price and Time" option together with a 30 minutes chart periodicity). We will both discuss about

  • the "3 Sessions" option which allows the user to display 3 profiles on a full session charts, knowing that the "Per 1" (Period 1) input corresponds to the 1st period duration in minutes (usually the Overnight Session) while the "Per 2" minutes input, located on the right part of the setting window, corresponds to the Duration in Minutes of the second session (Typically the Day session)
  • the "Split Session" option that doesn t require any Period input as the instrumlent Full session "Split Time" is the start of the Day session
