Is there any way to link my trading list to other windows so that when I click a symbol, that symbol is called up in a chart and or the trading desk symbol field automatically? Thanks, Brandon
Are you referring to the Trading List quotepage? This is a user-defined quotepage that you setup to tell Investor/RT which symbols among those you track are eligible for sending trading orders to the brokerage destination you have specified.
The action performed when you double-click on any symbol in any quotepage (not only the Trading List), is a user option. See File > Preferences > Charts > General. There are 3 choices in the section titled "When Double-Clicking...". So yes you can setup your double-click action to open some chart you have designated as your default chart. For trading, I recommend you setup this default chart to include either the ChartTradingDOM or the ChartMiniTrader to make trading actions readily available to you when the chart opens. The trading order desk window, is still a part of Investor/RT, but it is no longer the recommended method of submitting trading orders. There is no linking action of any kind that would open this legacy trading order desk window to a particular symbol.
Once thing that was nice about using the Trading Order Desk was the dropdown that allowed me to switch between paper and live account. I do not see this option on the ChartMiniTrader. Do you have any suggestions for doing this now that I use this for order entry?
The ChartTradingDOM has an account button beneath the price ladder that you can use to select the trading account to use. This makes it easy to switch between live and simulated trading. The ChartMiniTrader will be updated soon to add this functionality as well to its account menu button. In the meantime, you can add a button to any chart setup with purpose Set Trading Account. Make the button type Menu Button, and in the entry box where you enter the account names, enter only the question mark character. This creates a button inside your chart that will offer choices of any available trading accounts you have plus the Simualted account name used by the Investor/RT trading simulator.
Version 1.4 was released today. The trading account you wish to use is now selectable using the Account menu in both the ChartMiniTrader and ChartTradingDOM. The MiniTrader rectangle in the side can be adjusted now by specifying a vertical offset in its preferences. Keyboard and mousewheel adjustment of the vertical offset is supported now. First click is some background area of the rectangle to select it then use the up/down arrow keys (or mousewheel) to move the rectangle. Hold down shift key to make faster adjustment. When selected, MiniTrader responds to keyboard shortcuts B, M or T to postion the rectangle at top, middle or bottom of the sidebar
