Running on Mac

Investor/RT 13 for MacOS is compatible with macOS Mojave 10.14. Newer MacOS versions, e.g. Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura and higher do not support Investor/RT 13. While MacOS 10.14 Mojave today remains supported by Apple, it is considered a legacy release of MacOS. Existing clients running Mojave and earlier will continue to be supported by Linn Software but there will be no further enhancement or maintenance of the older 32-bit Version 13 of Investor/RT.

Presently, MacOS Ventura is Apple's latest. Users and prospective users of Investor/RT using Apple hardware with the latest MacOS should instead use the latest 64-bit Investor/RT 15 for WIndows.under virtualization using Parallels Desktop software. This is especially recommended for more recently introduced Macs with Apple silicon. The latest version of Parallels Desktop has been released with excellent support for the M1/M2 chips used by newer Apple hardware. We have tested Investor/RT 15 in this context and found first hand that Investor/RT for Windows, on a Windows 11 virutal machine runs seemlessly, essentially the same level of performance and stability as is typical on native Windows machines.

Interesting, Investor/RT was originally conceived as a cross platform charting and analysis platform to support clients with Mac or PC hardware. To accomplish this Linn Software has from inception employed software engineering frameworks that essentially have enabled us to support the identical user interface on both platforms. All of the charts, menus, preferences and settings dialogs have the same content and presentation on both platforms. Thus, the biggest difference that Mac users will encounter using Investor/RT 15 for Windows is that there are more RTX charting extentions available and more choices for market data than the native Mac versions have supported. Clients with Apple hardware can now, for example, obtain live market data and execution services via both Rithmic and CQG order routing systems widely available from futures brokerages.

Apple hardware, MacOS, Investor/RT 15 under Parallels enables traders to enjoy all of the latest features of Investor/RT alongside their favorite Apple native applications.
