For each market data source, Investor/RT has a wide catalogue of the most commonly traded futures types already predefined in its database. This list can be reviewed in our online symbol guides or browsed within Investor/RT when calling the "Add Futures Contracts" feature (File > Functions > Add Future Contracts)
For new users of Investor/RT here are some key terms and object types that underlie the trading and trading automation features of the platform.
The File > Functions menu item opens the Functions window. At the time of this writting, there are more than 70 miscellaneous functions available for execution. Each function has a name listed at left; selecting a function shows associated help text explaining the purpose of the selected function at right. Expanding the size of the window horizontally or vertically displays this help text in larger text size.
Investor/RT keeps an internal log (a text file) of all ongoing activity. The size of this log file is a user preference (File > Preferences > Message Log). The log is purged of older messages from time to time. Investor/RT can view the message log at any time. When the message log window is open, new messages that arrive are logged and appear dynamically at the bottom of the window. The message log window can be summoned using the keyboard shortcut Alt+M (M as in Message Log). When the message log window is in view, pressing Alt+M again will dismiss the window.
In general it is good to do periodic housekeeping to delete ticker symbols that you are no longer trading/tracking, or any invalid symbols you may have setup. There are a number of ways to delete individual symbols or a group of symbols in Investor/RT:
Investor/RT 14 offers an expanded Help menu to provide you with convenient access to Linn Software product support content, forums, the support ticketing system, and your Linn Software account information.
