How do I make quotepage with all the symbols in two other quotepages? How can I add all symbols from another quotepage into an existing quotepage?

Users of the Investor/RT can do this kind of quotepage merging easily using an RTL scan. Suppose you have two quotepages named “PageA” and “PageB” and you wish to create a new quotepage that contains all symbols that reside in either PageA or PageB. Run this scan on all your symbols QP = “PageA” OR QP = “PageB”

This scan produces a quotepage containing symbols that reside either in PageA or PageB. After the scan runs, simply save this resulting page giving it a name of your choice. You could even save the resulting page as “PageA”, replacing the former PageA, in effect augmenting PageA with symbols from PageB.

There is also a little known feature called ##Tickers that can be used to accomplish quotepage merging. A ##Ticker is an instrument of type “Cash” whose ticker symbol begins with ## (2 pound signs). These special symbols can be used in Investor/RT to insert section headers into a quotepage. They can also be used to define an instrument that serves to identify a group of symbols, the symbols that reside in a named quotepage.

This is done by creating the ##Ticker and specifying the “Name” of the instrument as the name of the quotepage that the ##Ticker represents. Create two ##Tickers using the Setup: Instruments window. Give them ##A and ##B as ticker symbol. Setup both instruments with security type “Cash” and setup the “Name” of ##A as “PageA”. Setup the “Name” of ##B as “PageB”. Note that the ticker symbol does not have to match match the name; it is the name that must precisely match the name of the corresponding quotepage. The instrument ##A now represents the symbols of PageA, and ##B the symbols of PageB.

Create a new empty quotepage (File: New: Quotepage). Click the Add Instruments to Quotepage button on the quotepage toolbar. Normally, the ensuing “Add to Quotepage” window is used to add individual symbols to the front quotepage. In this case however, click the mouse in the “+” button in the upper right corner of the “Add to Quotepage” window; choose “Show Cash Symbols” from the ensuing popup menu. The Add to Quotepage window will now list only the Cash instruments, and this list should include the ##A and ##A symbols you created above. Double-click on ##A and all the symbols of PageA will be added to your new quotepage. Double-click on ##B to add PageB’s symbols to your new quotepage.
