Printing Charts or QuotePages

Printing of charts and QuotePages is supported only for some printers. If you cannot get the File: Print command to print a chart or QuotePage then try using the File: Page Setup command and select your destination printer. If printing still does not work, quit Investor/RT locate the file named printer preferencess inside the admin folder and delete the file. Then startup again, use File: Page Setup and select the printer.

If printing still does not work, then you can conclude that your particular printer is among those not supported by Investor/RT.

Printing is a weakness of Investor/RT, but Investor/RT does have the ability to create graphic image files using the File: Save Picture command. These images files (.PNG files) can be saved in a folder of your choice for future viewing on screen. If you want to produce an actual paper copy of the image, your web browser or any graphic image editing software you have can print the PNG file to your printer. In fact, if you click on the chart to make it the active window, then choose Save: Save Picture from the File Menu and hold down the shift key while you choose the Save Picture menu item, Investor/RT will create the image file and open it immediately using your default web browser. You may then use the File: Print command in your browser window to send the image to the printer.

You can also right-click in the chart itself and choose Save: Picture or Export: Picture. Either command with shift key down opens up the image for viewing and printing in the web browser. Alternatively you can Save: Picture to your desktop or pictures folder, then use your web browser to open the image file for viewing and printing. You can also setup a keyboard shortcut for the Save Picture command in Setup: Preferences: Keyboard Shortcuts. You could for example setup Shift-F2 as Save: Save Picture, a shortcut for creating and then opening a chart image immediately in your browser. Thus Shift+F2 and FIle:Print will print the image using the printing feature built into your web browser.
