Got your tree up yet?

You stare at your charts all day. Why not spruce them up with a little holiday cheer? Introducing Holiday Tree (RTX), a whimsical indicator written with RTX that adorns any chart with a holiday tree, complete with twinkling lights, ornaments, garland, holiday countdown, customizable sizes and colors.

Will it help your trading? Probably not, but it may brighten your trading day during this holiday season. Add a tree to any Investor/RT chart, and enjoy decorating it by tweaking the settings. Drag and drop the tree anywhere in the same or a different pane. Use the keyboard resizing and positioning. When busy trading, hide the tree with a quick menu selection and show it again during more relaxing periods. Share your favorite decorated chart on twitter with hash tag #ChartTree. HolidayTree Prefs

  • Tree- Optional Tree color.  Can uncheck this button to make only lights, onrnaments, and/or garland visible in tree shape.
  • Ornaments - Ornaments are optional, with customization of the number of ornaments, the minimum and maximum possible sizes of ornaments (in pixels diameter), and two ornament colors.
  • Random Ornament Color - Check this box to have each individual ornament painted in it's own unique random color.
  • Ornament Border - 1 pixel optional border around each ornament in user specified color.
  • Garland - Optional garland with customizable color and width (in pixels).
  • Lights - Optional Lights with user specified number of lights and color of lights.
  • Position - When the Position checkbox is unchecked, the tree will be drawn on left side of chart and will use full height of chart.  User may check Position and customize the position, height and width.  When position is checked, user can also select tree and use left/right/up/down arrow keys to move tree within chart.  Hold down shift-key while operating up/down/left/rigth arrow keys to adjust the width and height of tree.  Hold down ctrl-key while operating up/down/right/left arrow keys to make quicker adjustments to position.  
  • Days To - Optional text printed towards bottom of chart representing the number of days and time until any given date, complete with customizable color and format (Days, Days HH:MM, Days HH:MM:SS).
  • Ball - Option to draw a ball either at top of the chart, or by itself hanging from a string from top of chart.  To draw by itself, just uncheck Tree, Ornament, Garland, and Light, and specify an offset (in pixels) from the top of the chart and an optional string size and color for it to hang from.  Right-click on the ball and duplicate or drag and drop it to a new location (make sure you've checked "Position" so you may drag and drop).  Each ball has it's own width (diameter) in pixels, color, and optional lights with customizable quantity and color.  The ball can be used to top off the tree at an offset between 0 and half the width of ball.

RTL - Investor/RT Language

RTL is the Investor/RT Language, a formula language for composing trading signals, custom indicators, and scans. RTL is an end user language, designed to be used by those with little or no programming skills. RTL is used to write a formula. A formula may be a true/false condition, e.g. CLOSE < MA, that determines whether some condition is true or not for each bar (a signal) or the last bar (a scan). A formula may compute an arithmetic result, called a custom indicator. For example: MA ( HIGH - CLOSE ) computes a moving average of how far an instrument closes from its high. As you can see, RTL is more expressive, simpler, and easier to use than other market data languagues.
